Yes it is Discover IT calling if you were applying for a card which I was to get the free amazon $100 gift card and was rejected. They were calling to make sure it was us doing it and not someone else. Bottom line it is a legit number.

I received many, many phone calls from this number but answered only once. On my phone it states that it is a call from ACCESS-FOOD STAMPS, which I receive because I am disabled. I naturally answer and then someone stated they are from Discover card. Sounds like a holiday scam to me.

This is indeed Discover IT fraud department. I applied for a card and they called to verify that I applied for a card. They never asked my SSN. I was approved and card arrived.

1-800-347-3072 Definitely not Discover card. If anyone says otherwise then they are the [***] crooks. I opened a Discover card account and a few days later got a call from this number saying there had been 'correspondence regarding my account'. I called back and a woman said "call back in a couple hours our computers are down". I called Discover and they said there were no issues and there was no record of contacting me for any reason. 100 percent positive a SCAM. Again, anyone saying otherwise on these forums is THE SCAMMER. F U SCAMMER [***]!

Actually, the number itself IS a Discover Card number. It's the number they originally called me from to verify information WITHOUT ASKING FOR MY SS# and the account was immediatelyopened just after the approval full on website account access, balance, etc. This was legit information verification that some people are referring to. It was several days later that I got a call from the same number regarding "correspondance on my account" as I described above. Truth is this time it wasn't really the same number and it wasn't Discover Card as I pointed out (they had no record of contacting me again). Plus the woman didn't sound professional and the "computers were down please call back". She actually sounded surprised at getting a phone call like I interrupted her soap opera. Anyway, this is what they do - they alter the number that appears on your phone."Caller ID spoofing is the process of changing the caller ID to any number other than the calling number. When a phone receives a call, the caller ID is transmitted between the first and second ring of the phone. To transmit the caller ID, we use a technique called Frequency Shift Keying, which transmits the caller ID in a binary format. It is possible, during this part of the call, to transmit the caller ID we want instead of the true number."

Note -this is not a fraudulent line, this is in fact a direct line to Discover, we have the card. If they are calling saying there is a pending app - my suggestions I that you call and find out why if you did n't apply - AGAIN, THIS IS A LEGIT PHONE NUMBER TO DISCOVER CREDIT CARD.

I receive a call from a phone 1-800-347-3072 claiming to be from Discover Credit Card concerning some corresponding documents that they received from me. But I never apply for a credit card with Discover. Is this a scam?

I got a message from that number requesting me to call back, and saying they were Discover. I didn't trust them, but called Discover's main number back. They verified that the 800-347-3072 *is* Discover, namely from their new accounts fraud department. Someone had tried to open a new credit card up, posing as me.
