They called and when I answered you can just hear typing on the other end. I said "hello" three times and no one responded. I hung up and they called back. Same scenario, no one speaks.
FYI, I received two calls after 6pm but was not home and no message was left. After reading these posts I contacted FSSA to try to find the skinny on what was posted here. Here is sort of how it went:Me: Do you ask for the SSN of the individual you have called right away.Them: No. We verify using your birthdate.Me: If someone refuses to give you their SSN do you state their benefits will be taken away.Them: If we do ask for SSN verification, we only ask for the last four digits. So no, we will not in that context.Me: What should I do if I don't believe it's really you.Them: Ask for their full name and extension and then contact us and we will make other arrangements.Keep in mind that it is relatively easy and inexpensive to fake your caller id. It is getting to be popular and scammers and spammers do get away with it. It is extremely expensive and time consuming to catch them. You may have heard about people faking to be the IRS. The FSSA or any other government institution can also be spoofed this way. It is up to you to verify EVERY person that calls you.
calls several times but never leaves a message.. Here is something that is fun to do if you have your computer hooked up to your phone line when they call, grab a fax software and when these people call turn the fax on to receive after a few times of this most companies drop the call off of their list because it is a "fax" number!
WHAT'S EVEN SMARTER TO DO....JUST REVERSE THE NUMBER IN GOOGLE OR SEARCH IT AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHO'S CALLING...
where in the heck is floyd county, i live in madison county, anderson indiana and i'm getting indiana state as caller id
This is the IN Department of Family and Children and they handle several counties. If they are calling, it should be because you applied for Medicaid, Food Stamps, or Cash Assistance. They do not telemarket benefits! They either have an old phone number on file, which is now yours, or there is a reason for the call.
