to all the people on here claiming this is some sort of telemarketer or a scam or whatever, it is NOT. It is the Indiana Family Services, such as food stamps and other social family services. Either you signed up for on of those benifits, or someone you know has and they are trying to reach them. It would be nice if people would actually TRY and see who the caller is before assuming it is a scam.
1-800-403-0864 is the phone number for the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration's Division of Family Resources (FSSA/DFR) offices. This is a statewide number serving residents of all Indiana counties. FSSA/DFR administers and processes applications for food stamps/SNAP, cash assistance/TANF, refugee assistance, and Medicaid/state insurance programs.A call from this number means that a representative from a FSSA/DFR is trying to reach a person who appied for state benefits and provided your number in their contact information. The State of Indiana/FSSA/DFR does not telemarket, or solicit from this number. Calls from this number are not automated.
The person seemed confused and asked me who I was when I asked who was calling. They didn't tell me who they were and I told them they had the wrong number.
If they are calling, it's because you applied for Medicaid, Food Stamps, Cash Assistance or H.I.P. (State Assisted Insurance).
FYI They don't leave a message or say anything about who they're calling for (if it's not you) because the fact that someone is applying or has applied for state assistance is confidential information.
