I received a letter from "Bank of America" stating that my credit card account number was changing, and although they could not send me a new card at this time, they would like me to update my account information. The account number they listed was not mine, so I checked the 1-800 number they provided and found this forum. Please be aware that although it looks like the letterhead from Bank of America, their registered "R" mark is on the bottom point of the flag logo, as opposed to the real B of A mark on the right point of the flag. Also, this was the address listed on the envelope:PO Box 15633Wilmington, DE 19850
my credit monitoring service had new inquiries that my credit card has been reported stolen/lost by BofA. i know i did not call to report such things since i only have 3 cards and been using them just fine, so someone is trying to be sneaky and i won't tolerate it. thank you for this forum!
The number 800-421-2110does belong to MBNA credit card services, butThere is new technolgy out there that allows these scam artis to change the caller ID number that you recive on your phone. So just because your caller ID says a number doen't mean it is soo.Treat every call with suspesion.
I understand that Caller ID can be faked, so to clarify:If you MAKE A CALL to 800-421-2110, that is going to a legitimate credit card services place. (that number is on the back of my present and prior Bank of America credit card)If you RECEIVE a call, and your phone displays that number as calling, then the call is probably from that number, but the Caller ID might be faked, so the call could be from anyone.Don't answer significant questions from a call you receive, since you really don't know who is calling. Obviously if you're expecting the call then ... .If you're answering a call, get the person's name & dept., explain that you will call the number you know is genuine, and ask to be transferred to them. Then call a number you see on your credit card or statement. Using reverse phone directories on the internet to see if a number is genuine sometimes causes needless worry. Frequently, genuine numbers don't show up.
I just got one of these calls too. I am sick of this #@#@#@! Just says... please hold your card qualifies for a new rate. I DONT keep a credit card balance so I do not need a new rate.
The number 1- 800-421-2110 is included in an email from Bank of America stating that there has been a mistake with your e-bill, so don't mail it in. DUH-------first scam artist mistake---if I have an e bill, why would I mail my bill in???? e-bill people hate mail. 2nd mistake is that when you call the number 800-421-2110 (I called from an unknown unlisted number), the recording asks for your social security number and credit card account number; so if you just sit and do not respond a half educated scam artist gets on the line and continues the scam and asks for your FULL social security number! I asked her what kind of crack she smoked, she said she had to have the number for security purposes.....bblah, blah, blah......basically I told her to get a life or a new job because this one would be short lived. Someone that works for aol or internet explorer must encrypt emails and sell personal half info to scam artists. maybe i'll go back to mailing my bills and put a few people out of work.
actually I called bank of america and they confirmed that this is a legit account.its when you reach a settlement and make settlement payments.after you finish they report to your credit as debt settled and payed.I have called with bank of america and they have confirmed with me to be a legit account.I have settled my credit card account and made payments to them and ran my credit and it shows them as a legit company and they did report me as dept settled.
I called this number and gave them my SS NUMBER and birthday, Now, I am so worried. What should I do now to fix the BIG mistake?
This is actually Bank of America's number. Don't worry. The dude posting above you doesn't know what he's talking about.
