This is a scam. I refused to give the caller my password to my ML account as requested. She gave me a number to call to verify that it was indeed ML calling. The number was the 800-637-7455. I called my broker at ML and was told that the real number for ML was an 866 number The clever scammer had used the same last 7 digits but a different exchange. Pretty smart. BEWARE IT IS A SCAM.

This was legitimate (from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Services). Rather than call the number they left on my answer machine I went to the back of my credit card. Happily the phone number on the back of the credit card and the one they left on my answer machine was the same & they were just following up on a transaction I made a few days before.

Just because the numbers were the same doesn't mean that other people who come here will have the same thing-the number has been spoofed in the past and will be again. You did the right thing by calling the number on the back of the card

Called my cell at 5 am. ID said it was Bank of America. I do not have an account with Bank of America or Merrill Lynch. Never have. A voice mail was left which was a recording instructing me to... "when (dead air, no name) is on the line, press 1. If you need time to get (dead air, no name given) on the line, press 2. To cancel this call back, press 9."I blocked and marked as spam. Two minutes later, without my phone ringing or showing an incoming call, I get a new voice mail notification, and it is a second voice mail, same as the first. Two minutes after that, it happens a third time. I have three voice mails with this same recording, yet only the first call actually came through. So it is getting past my block/spam and into my vm box.If it keeps happening, I will contact my carrier to put a stop to it. I am not "pressing 9."

I got a call from this number as well last night and no message was left I just got off the phone with Merrill Edge and it was verified that this number is for their after-hours verification Department. I'm always complaining about the non-functioning staff that they do have after hours so it appears and I do say appears that somebody called to speak to me about my complaints period now my bigger complaint is that they did call and hung up I told the young man that if this happens again where somebody calls me and does not leave an outgoing message I will be in touch with the FCC and that he should Mark my account as such. As somebody previously stated there's so much spoofing of numbers going on and somehow these people realize what your area code and exchanges on your phones and try using numbers that way to make you answer. If you're not in my cell phone phone book I don't answer. It's horrible that we have to lead our lives this way but that's the 21st century folks.

Received a call this morning from this number on my cell phone. Caller said this was a follow up call about a problem with a Merrill Lynch money transfer from last October (I don't remember any problem). Since this sounded suspicious, I asked him for the name of my ML financial advisor which would be information which he would certainly have if he were calling from ML. He couldn't/wouldn't and I called him on his BS. Immediately after the call I contacted my ML office and reported it. They were quite concerned and reported it to the ML security office. If I hear follow up on this, I will post again.
