Recieved an "Automated Call" from "Navy Federal Card Fraud Prevention" (800-704-8950), requesting personal information about recent activity to my VISA charge card and was unsure if this is a valid caller or not. Could you please identify callers number? I feel uncomfortable giving personal data to a "Machine" and this could be very well be a possible scam to get into my banking accounts!!Thank you,Kathleen Turner

I just received the same call as Ms. Turner above. I'm on the phone with Navy Fed right now to verify. According to the rep I'm speaking with, it IS indeed NFCU's fraud prevention department. But I do feel better having confirmed my recent charges with a person I'M calling, rather than with a machine.

I also confirm it was a legit phone number. I call Navy Federal and they forward me to the 800 704 8950.

Whenever a stranger calls you about your card, never give out any info but call the number on the back of your card. Since you called them and you know the number you dialed is legit, you can give them any info you want.

Phone number is legit. Called 800-704-8950 (from a phone# listed on my account) and it gave me my full name, last 4 of credit card, and the transaction amount/location in question. It asked me for my zip and to confirm I made this transaction. No personnel info was asked for, just zipcode.

Yeah, it's definitely Navy Federal. I called the number on the back of my card and asked them about it. They told me it's their credit card fraud department number.

Yes, this was a valid call from Navy Federal verifying a purchase my husband had JUST made online. They do this quite often to prevent theft so I wasn't surprised. They only ask you to verify your zip code I believe. Automated system that lists the purchase price, date and seller and asks you to hit a button to either verify, say it's fraud or repeat the item in more detail.

I just got a call from 1-800-704-8950 claiming they were navy federal. I called the NFCU number on the back of my credit card and spoke with some one. They said it was NOT a NFCU phone number and that there were no notations on my account. hmmmm.

It is NFCU TOTALLY LEGIT

I received a call from this number, also saying it was NFCU Fraud department. I didn't return the call, but checked my account online. There was very definitely a fraudulent purchase on our account. I called the 1-888 number on the back of my card, though, to take care of it.
