social security needs more information about a mail that was sent

wanted a former employee's social security number wasn't educated on the form she needed it for. the form was from almost 5 years ago. sounded flustered and like she needed it immediately. i called the actual socical security number and they said SSA would never call and ask for an employees number b/c they would be able to find it.

Do we know for sure that is number for Social Security?

This number is from the Social Security office. What freaked me out a little is I called this number based on a form SS had sent me and a live person answered the phone. I called from the west coast at 9pm which means it was pass midnight in Pennsylvania which was where the person I was talking to said she was at. She said that the SS office hired some people working the graveyard shift to help those calling from the west coast. The form that has this 800-775-7802 number also has my SS number so I think it is a legit number.I even googled the 800-775-7802 number and so far, it does appear on several SS office websites.

Trust me, even the website is fake. This is an extremely sophisticated scam. The Social Security Administration already knows every birth date and social security number in the country.

Got a call today at 2:00 p.m. said they were from Social Security Administration --Fraud Department...even left an extension 33755 supposedly to contact the Fraud Department....

I got the same call at just after 12 Noon (today) from someone saying they were "Debbie Lynch" (from the Social Security Office) and to call her back at 1-800-775-7802 (Ext. 33755) ???!!!! However, when I looked at my phone (as it was ringing) . . . the ACTUAL NUMBER SHE WAS CALLING FROM WAS: 570-831-1296This sounds like a COMPLETE SCAM !!!!
