I am not sure why so many people said it is a fraud. I got a call from them and let it go to voice mail. Later on I got a secure message from Capital One. I signed on to their web site like I always do to retrieve their messages, and there was a message there for me. It was in response to a dispute I had filed. This is from the closing paragraph in that message:"If you have questions, please give us a call at 800-887-8643. Our Transaction Support Center Representatives are available from 7 a.m. to midnight Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday and Sunday."
im.on the phone with them now trying to have a restriction taken off my card for a $2400 purchase i made at jereds jewelers yesterday... i heard wind blowing and kids in the background!!
The caller from this number left me a v.m. claiming to be from Capital One needing to speak to me about a "business matter". He left me an additional number, 877-539-1136 with an extension, where he could be reached. Instead of calling either number that was provided, I contacted Capital One using the phone number on my card. They confirmed that nobody from Capital One had attempted to contact me. I would not recommend calling 800-887-8643 or 877-539-1136.
I received a phone call from this number pretending to be capital one it is fraud, I called capital one to report
I also got a VM from Capital One saying it was from their emergency department and they had to speak to me about an important matter. She left me a number and ext, but I didn't get the message until Sunday. It then said to call Cap One @ 1 800 887 8643. When I called Cap One they said that was a bogus number, but it did connect me to customer service @ Cap One.

It is a legit PNC Bank phone no. I wrote out a $12000. check and they called to verify and had the last 3 digits of checking acct. on message.
