The number is a Chase customer service line which is being hijacked or "spoofed". It is aTrojan Horss, scam attempt. I called Chase to verify this. The number that ends in 2000 is an INCOMING customer query line ONLY. It is NOT used by Chase EVER for outgoing calls. So if this number appears on your caller log, just know that it is a valid number being spoofed by scammers who are relying on the fact that the 2000 shows up in internet searches under the Chase umbrella. It is a trap. Do not answer this call.
Answered, and someone stated that they were from Chase. I advised that I was busy, and would call back. Called Chase customer service, and they reported that the number does not belong to them. Don't answer.
Oh, the number is the real number for Chase! What it ISN'T is the number of the person calling you! This scammed can spoof ANY number, including YOUR OWN!!
I wish someone would explain to me how "Credit Card Services" has been pulling this "lower your interest rate on your Visa" scam since 2009 and have yet to be busted for it! Today (for the umpteenth time!) they called me with the pitch. I felt like jerking them around a bit, so I pushed 1 and when the guy came on the phone I told him I was VERY interested. I then proceeded to ask him all kinds of questions about interest rates and cards they could help me with, and got the jerk all excited. Then of course he had to wait a few minutes for me to round up my credit cards. Finally, right before he was supposed to get my card numbers, I took a few more minutes to express my gratitude for his generous offer. I even fake cried at my relief over lowering my debt! Then, as he was waiting to get my card number I asked him for his company's name. He told me "Credit Card Services" to which I replied, "Then why does my caller ID say" Chase Bank"? As he tried to come up with a reasonable explanation, I said " So, how do YOU like being scammed?, and hung up! That's 15 minutes of that low life' s life he won't be getting back!!! :-)
The call wants to reduce the interest on my Visa Credit Card account. I do not have credit cards. I have asked to be removed from their call list, it just increased the number of times I am being called
I too keep receiving these calls and answer every time. The only way for these scams to stop is for everyone to answer and belittle them quickly before they hang up on you. Some "operators" will stay on the line until I get done with my rant. I always ask them to quit f-ing calling me and after a little while of that I hang up if they had not by then. I'm sorry, but there is no nice way to stop these scam artists and their costly (to you) propositions. Whether it's lowering my interest rate (by deceiving me into thinking it's one of my credit card companies), medicare pitch, or rewards center, I'm not interested and if you like keeping what you have, you shouldn't be interested either.. Make THEIR job a living hell the way they interrupt our lives for nothing but a scam.
NIIICE!!! With ALL telemarketers, my tack is to keep them on the line as long as possible, wasting their time, while not giving them any legitimate information. With these Credit Card scum, I have several specific methods. A) I have to go find my card in the other room (good for ~45 seconds or so), B) I have completely made-up/random numbers/exp dates/ZIP, etc. for 2 fictitious cards (make sure the first 4 digits match the card type - Master Card starts with 5461, Discover 6011, etc). written down on a paper by the phone, C) read the info back to them v e r y s l o w l y and when the card comes back invalid, do it again but change one number. Repeat as long as possible. Bonus points if you keep them on for more than 10 minutes and/or get in a mention of the National DoNotCall Registry before they hang up. HAVE FUN!
