I'm amazed this thread on this particular # goes back to 2009!!! Why hasn't the FCC done something about this already? Today Alice called - same schpeel - lower your interest rate on your Visa card. I don't have credit cards. Where in hell's name are they getting their info from? This nonsense has got to stop. I'm ready to give up my phone altogether.
Why isn't Chase Bank doing anything about this matter? If the spoofer is using their number? smh
Yep - foreign criminal scum spoofing an actual Chase call-in number.Recorded message saying I am eligible for a lower interest rate, and if I do not accept this offer my card will be canceled. Absolute nonsense!Chase (or any other bank) would never call you and say something like that.Criminals calling via internet from overseas to try and scam you out of credit card information.
I received a call today from a man claiming to work for Chase Bank. He said that because my account was in good standing, all payments made on time and usually more than the minimum payment, Chase wanted to offer me a lower interest rate on my credit card. (This man also had a very thick Indian or Middle Eastern accent.) I told him I would rather not discuss anything like that, since I had no way to know it was truly Chase calling me. When I told him that I would call Chase myself to verify, he became angry and asked why I would call Chase, when he WAS Chase. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. I did call Chase to report it and they asked that I send an email with details to abuse@chase.com , which I did.
SCAM. Claimed to be from "Credit Card Services" and had my name. Claimed to be looking at Experian and wanted to offer me a lower interest rate. The information he claimed to be reading was all incorrect. Could not identify what credit card he could offer a lower rate. When I asked him how he know I even had a credit card he hung up. All he wanted was my credit card number so he could rob me.
It was a recording saying that I was eligible for a lower interest rate on my VISA card and if I didn't respond my card would be cancelled. I don't have a VISA card, so good luck cancelling what doesn't exist. :)
I am caregiver to an elderly Chase customer so when I saw the caller ID was from Chase Card Services, I did have a brief initial concern that it could be from Chase as this customer has had issues with both his Chase debit & credit cards. However, when I heard the female robotic voice that my account could be cancelled & the "press 1" to be connected to someone, I knew this was a SCAM. So I reached a Middle Eastern man who proceeded with his spiel (without ID'ing himself with Chase) and he asked how many cards did I want lowered and whether they were Visa or Mastercard. I then told him I had a Discover card (I don't) to hopefully throw him off but it didn't. He then rattled off the 4 digits automatically associated with Discover and then I gave him some numbers off the top of my head. He then asked me to repeat them as they were not valid. I then told him my card number was 1234-5678-1234-5678. He cursed me out with the F word and hung up without waiting for me to respond. I wish I had a whistle on me to blow into this crook's ear to permanently make him hearing challenged (AKA deaf).
Yea! This fool just told me the same thing! He’s going to lower my interest rate! I told him I don’t do business on the phone mail me the offer and I’ll look at it soon as I get time! He kept trying to interrupt me saying he couldn’t mail out anything lol, I told him I didn’t want it then he then said he was going to cancel my credit card! I laughed at him!...And said How you sound?...I know your a scammer foreal!...
