1) When the caller is exempt from the DNC requirements.2) When the caller doesn't care about any telemarketing laws. This caller -- since they call so many cell phones -- clearly doesn't care about the laws. So, we -- as consumers -- need to exercise our rights. We need to:A) File complaints with the FCC, FTC, and state authorities such as the Attorney General.B) Track down the callers.C) File lawsuits against those who ignore the law, and collect thousands of dollars.
Maybe he didn't mean he got $500 from this particular company. I, however, have collected thousands and thousands of dollars from telemarketers. Others on the Internet have done it, too. One guy has collected over $100,000 from different telemarketers. I have seen copies of many $5,000 checks he collected. The biggest check I got was $10,000.You can be skeptical . . . but it's stupid. If you would be proactive, you could collect a lot more money than being skeptical will ever get you.
I called the number back it says your calling stupid [***] hole and mail box is full!!
Being an attorney at law doesn't keep you from being stupid.Or wrong.$500 is where one telemarketing statute puts the more or less "minimum" amount A CONSUMER CAN COLLECT when filing suit against a telemarketer which violates that particular law -- the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.It's $500 per call, so if a consumer gets multiple calls from the same source, it can really add up. Plus, the judge has discretion to triple the amount, allowing the CONSUMER -- not any governmental agency -- to collect $1,500. Of course, the IRS wants its share of that, but the consumer is the channel through which the taxes are collected. If only more lawyers knew anything about this law, it would be easier:1) For a consumer to find a lawyer to act on his behalf, and2) for a consumer to collect from illegal telemarketers. The extent of stupidity and ignorance demonstrated by attorneys in various telemarketing suits I've filed has been astounding. And, of course, the lengths to which they will go, in order to pad their bills before they ultimately lose is equally astounding.attorneyatlawjax is just another example of the same astounding stupidity.
