Did not answer. Get regular calls from this number, never leave a message. I never answer.
Survey calls by legitimate research companies are permitted by both the National and state Do Not Call Lists. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request.
If it's a name or number I don't recognize, I don't answer the phone. If they continue to call, I ignore it or turn the phone off (luckily my latest call, so far, was 9:30pm and I'm a night owl so my sleep hasn't been disturbed). If it's important, I figure they'll leave me a message. If I pick up the phone, whether to give them a piece of my mind or to just ask them to stop calling, it just encourages them and they keep on calling. I never donate money to "worthy causes" over the phone. If I get a mailing from a worthy cause, I'll gladly donate what I can. For instance, I think Special Olympics is a very worthy cause-the organization does wonderful things. However, they hired a company to do their fundraising for them and that company instructs their workers to never leave a message but to, instead, keep calling until they get a live person. This bothers me at 2 levels: (1) reputable and worthy causes should be doing mailings (snail mail or email)...NOT repeated phone calls, in this day and age where there are so many phone scams and (2) how much of my donation would actually be going to Special Olympics and how much would be going to the company doing the fund?
For requesting a person to participate in something that is not mandatory, these people do not give up. They continually try to call or mail material to get you to do there survey or phone interview. We're very sorry, but we are just not interested in taking part. I also will not answer a call whose number I do not recognize nor one I have not requested.
