Did you ever find out if it was a spam call? We just got a call today and I thought the same thing.

He said he would fax the request but we never received one! he said his name was Fred with Change Healthcare and he had three Blue Cross patients that he would be sending for records but first he had some telephone questions for HIPAA compliance which I did not answer.

I got a call from this number yesterday, and it said it was Blue Cross Blue Shield calling about one of my clients (I'm a therapist). I'm reluctant to call back because normally BCBS mails me correspondence.

Received a call, said they were representing Medica, looking for medical records for one of my patients (chiropractic). The person was extremely difficult to understand, but said she'd be faxing a medical release via fax but never did.

They have called twice saying that they were with alegra health with BC/ BS which is weird because like ( Megan ) BC/BS mails all there correspondence to me and they were collecting intimation on patients and wanted to verify clinic information because of hippa. I didn't give them any information and ended just saying I cant verify who you say you are please mail me any records you are requesting and hung up. I have yet to receive a fax, mail or anything. I believe this to be a scam.

We have also received several calls from this number. They leave a voicemail (in VERY broken English) claiming to need medical records for "risk adjustment". HOWEVER, BCBS always sends written correspondence for medical records so we have not returned their calls.

we also got calls on 2 of our patients earlier in march 2017 (we're in Chicago suburbs) claiming to be bcbc but thankfully our staff asked for a release to be faxed before they can send anything, they never faxed anything, sounds very fishy.

Calling from a certain health group representing BCBS with reference number. 2nd time receiving this call.
