1-855-249-2290 is linked to the ESDC/Service Canada/Labour Canada national auto-attendant. This enables users on the corporate phone system (GENS) to be reached directly by outside callers at no cost by dialing the toll-free number, making the language selection and entering the 10 digit extension of the person they are trying to reach (this extension is in fact the person's local phone number).
1-855-249-2290 IS A SCAM !!!!!!!!!! i learned a long time ago that anyone with a "ph #" AS AN EXTENSION, meaning fake # behind another # IS BECAUSE THEY ARE HIDING!!!! plus since i live in a town/city where there are MILLIONS of Service Canada, it was obvious it was a scam because Service Canada would contact me from where i am from!! PLUS, they, like Revenue Canada contact you VIA mail NOT PHONE!!! its a SCAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! report it to OPP or what ever your provincial police is, they cover FRAUD !!! and there lots of SCAM going on even with these FAKE [***] scammer using Revenue Canada as well, so be careful !!! im calling it a political call simply because they are pretending to be from the GOV.
Missed this call and called back. Yes - Service Canada - with a 10-digit extension about my EI Claim. Glad I didn't listen as I need this processed quickly. Believe what you want but I'm glad I checked it out.
This number is Service Canada. I was expecting a call about my EI. The guy at SC centre said someone would call to clear something up for me, and the caller had those details . The call display showed a 519 area code but the message said to call back this toll free # and call the extension #. It seems like a call forwarding system.Did no one click on the service Canada link provided several times above? 1-855........1-866.....1-877....
Dude, it's the EI office. They looked it up, probably because they need to apply for EI or talk to someone regarding unemployment.
I just got a call from saying it was Service Canada with the same number 1-855-2492290 but with ext#3065171055. I didn't answer the call coz I want to check first if it is legit though he sounded legit to me...should I just ignore it?
The 1-855-249-2290 number is our toll free VoIP number. You then enter the 10 digit local number to reach the agent with your claim. Your agent is in Saskatchewan as their area code is 306. The region you live in in Canada doesn't matter... Ideally an agent in your region will have your claim, but if the next available agent is in Nova Scotia, then they will be assigned your file. There are EI processing agents in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba (I think!), Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Ignoring calls regarding your EI claim can lead to a disentitlement, as another agent mentioned previously. Sometimes we can obtain the required info from your employer, but not always. If you're really unsure, you can always pop into a Service Canada centre or call the 1-800-206-7218 number to verify that someone is trying to contact you. We generally only send letters if we are don't have a valid phone number. If the number connects us to voicemail, we will leave two messages. If we leave two messages without hearing back from a client, we will refer the issue to a level 2 agent if appropriate or process with the info we have available. If it isn't adequate, then unfortunately we will have to disentitle the client until an actual decision can be made. We have to do this because we can't keep files open and in limbo for an indefinite amount of time. If you're disentitled, you will receive a letter advising you of what your next step should be. Hope this helps! :)
