RBC confirms that this is not their number. This is not RBC. Not a legitimate caller. Only give them your details if you feel like having a stranger access all your information.
This number is a bogus no. for RBC. I believe it is one of those who just wanted to get info of someone to get personal info. Just a simple advise ignore numbers if you do not know the number especially the 800's #s to be safe. There is no Bank that will keep calling 5-6 times a day.
These are scammers.RBC does use automated messaging to inform you about your account. They will not ask you for personal and/or confidential information if you are connected to a live person. They post legitimate numbers on their website and they begin with 1 - 800 or 1 - 877 numbers, not 1 - 855 numbers. The call display should show they are RBC with a legitimate RBC number. These and other posts related to the 1 - 855 number all have the same theme, thieves who are calling from out of country so they can not be prosecuted in North America claiming to be some legitimate business and you owe them money. They also post on these websites posing as innocent bloggers saying it is RBC, pick up the phone.I have also read, in other blogs, some of the people who have answered this "Toll Free Service" number have been back charged by the caller at $5 per minute.Report these numbers to RBC, Canadian Anti-Fraud (FBI in the US), and Scambusters (Canada).
Don't trust this number. They claim to be RBC (Royal Bank) but I really doubt it. You never give your information to them because you do not know who you are talking to especially if the number is third party. Be safe and be cautious who you are dealing with this days. There is no bank that calls 5-6 times in a day asking all types of questions. BE SMART!
Same here. For the past year or so. We are not RBC customers. Started out with one call ever few days, by now we receive 3 or 4 every day.The few times that we did answer, it was an automated message from some collections blabla with an "important message for (pause, then computer voice) "Kane" (pause) and requesting to call back as soon as possible blablabla.I just mute it when I see the number anymore. Eastlink phone provider says they can't do anything about it o.O
I just received a call from this number for about the 20th time this week he wanted my date of birth I did give him my name but then he said it was about my rbc credit card....I don't have one he rhymed off my husbands name I didn't say yes or no then he asked my date of birth again, I said you called me I'm not giving you any information he got quite agitated and said well I have to confirm who you are I again said you called my house! He said well you have to visit a branch and I hung up on him. I called my branch immediately the lady looked at my account no issues at all, I don't have a visa through rbc so obviously no issue there I gave her the number that called and she put it through to rbc security I waited a few minutes she came back to me and said this is not a number rbc uses
