This was a confirmation call after I activated this credit guard service, courtesy of Home Depot. This is their published, toll-free number.
LegitimateAs part of Home Depot's security breech, they gave/are giving away 1 yr credit monitoring free from ALLCLEAR,also previously known as DEBIX. Every time you long into the ALLCLEAR website and enter your name and password, they call the number YOU gave them and you need to answer before you are admitted to the website. If somebody gave them the wrong number via typo or deliberately, they might be calling you.
It is indeed a legit company. Recently Home Depot was hack and as a result, they offered Clear ID protection for 1 year at no cost to all Home Depot customers.
It is a scam. You receive an e-mail telling you there has been activity detected on your account but they don't say what account or such.No information saying who's account , etc.If you are too stupid to comprehend it is a scam then you deserve what you get.You are currently mixed up in fraud crap, receiving fraud calls because you are gullible and respond to the scammers when they call or when you get an e-mail that is obvious fraud / fake. You deserve what you get.Unless you initiated a call, contact, etc. Do not return calls to anyone who up and calls you out of the blue. Do not respond to e-mails for such crap.DO NOT OPEN SUCH E-MAILS. UNLESS YOU ARE ECPECTING AN E-MAIL FROM A SPECIFIC COMPANY --DELTE THE E-MAIL -- DO NOT, I SAY AGAIN , DO NOT OPEN THE E-MAIL.CLICK ROUTE TO SPAM FILE THEN DELETE IT FROM SPAM FILE / FOLDER.
The business is only legitimate if it is actually the real business AND NOT some scammer using the legitimate business'sname and spoofing their phone number.Just because a business exists, or one you do business with don't mean anything !UNLESS YOU CAN INDEPENDENTLY VERIFY IT IS INDEED THE REAL BUSINESS !Hang up on the caller , a strange voice on the phone claiming to be such and such AND CALL THEM BACK ON A TELEPHONE NUMBER THAT YOU KNOW FOR CERTAIN IS A VALID NUMBER !DO NOT call the caller back on a number they give you, NEVER !Only call back using a telephone number you have used in the past or know for sure is real , beyond the shadow of a doubt.
This is the company hired by HOME DEPOT to provide free credit monitoring service from their recent records breach. The name is ALL CLEAR ID. If they call you then your name/info may have been provided to them by someone. We signed up for the free Home Depot service and received an automated confirmation phone call on the number we provided to them. All legit. Just Google "ALL CLEAR ID" and see. They were formerly known as Debix, I believe.
I also got this email out of the blue. Yes, I have credit reporting but I NEVER call the number in an unexpected email or click on unplanned links. I ALWAYS go to the contact info I got when I first signed up for a service and initiate the contact myself. Don't risk this. Initiate the contact using the contact info you got in the first place. You should always save the correct phone numbers and website addresses from the first sign up.
