My friend Leah answered my phone because I was shooting a photo. She wouldn't believe that Leah was answering the phone. Woman on the other line identified herself as "Monica Porter" refused to give the company name and said she has to call me back because her package came in and it's waiting on my desk. I can't tell you any information because I have to here from Ms. XXX. Asked Leah if she had my supervisor's info or the name and number of my employer. Leah said no. Then, Monica asked Leah if she could tell her who I was doing a photo shoot for because it is a very important package and I've been waiting on it. Leah said no and told Monica it was none of her business and hung up. Monica called every half hour for about 4 hrs. straight. I finally called and it is a bill collector for Affiliated Asset Solutions. I tracked it further to Memorial Hermann Physical Therapy. I finally got tired of all the calls from various people and talked to one of them. They said I have a pass due bill of $4,567 how would I like to take care of that today? Credit card, debit card, or EFT? I was laughing and then asked what bill? From where? Why? Whom? and What is the breakdown. They said I had to call my medical provider and should have received a claim. NOPE. Seems medical just bills and send it directly to collections. I always have a problem with Medical doing it and collectors calling demanding money and can't tell me why. NO WAY. Also, never been to physical therapy or really haven't seen the doc in over a year. Turns out, someone decided to steal my personal information. Name is mine but the photo on it is obviously not me but still they want their money. Reported to police and the lady receptionist at the physical therapy office said they were probably illegal. How, they get free medical so why do this? She said it happens. Still, they kept the bill under my information and medical stuff. Found out medical information was stolen from a former employer. We had to provide proof of medical insurance to a contract we were doing business with and it was stolen. Now, I guess I have bills racking up.
Got a call from this #. I answered, repeatedly saying hello, hello......they just hung up.
First a recording comes on asking you to please hold, and again and again etc. Then real person comes on line, gives a phony name, and asks for ------------------. I asked who was calling and what the call was about and got the typical ...."personal business matter"....."can't speak to you unless you are the person we're trying to reach"....etc. Told them that person was not available at this phone number and they hung up. Blocked the number on my "Call Blocker".
They call several times a day. This morning called at 7:45 AM. When I answer it says Please hold . I don't hold the line for an unknown person and they never leave a message
They just called and said they were Affiliated something or other and that they were calling to collect a debt. That's possible but the kicker is that they wanted to confirm my mailing address and D.O.B. The mailing address was one I had 20 years ago, I haven't used it since 1995! If that is the case, it is long past the time when they can collect it in Florida, we have a statute of limitations on collecting old debts, I can pay it if I volunteer to do so but they can't sue me to collect. I can't imagine who I would owe money to from back then that just got around to deciding to collect it...
Called left no message. Googled the number and it was Affiliated something or another debt collection....already had someone try to scare me into paying for credit card that I have never had 16 years ago...I know what I do and do not owe and these people are scammers...scamming innocent people is the new job these days.I talk to nobody now unless it is someone that I know that I may owe.Any bill that is years old has already been written off and repaid by the company's insurance. Do not fall for scammers. NO ONE is going to call you...they will sue you or mail you.
Called me yesterday and again today, so I answer. They wanted me to confirm who I was, said remember when you went to the hospital and how you owe money. Tried getting me to give away my credit or debit card. I told them I already spoke with someone about the bills you are trying to get me to pay. I went to the hospital 2, paid 2/4 bills off and currently still paying the other 2. He named one of the bills, I already know about and currently paying. I told him I wasn't going to give anymore information away, he can send me a letter or email about the statement and we can talk about it later. He told "No, I need you to pay it now. We have been calling and have sent you letters" which is bulls**t because once again I get the same letters about my only 2 bills I owe. I told him once again, this is the first time hearing about you, I have no letters from you, you aren't on my credit collection list so unless you send another letter or email, don't bother me anymore.. He didn't ask for my email, he just said okay and hung up. SCAMMERS!
