I get a call but they never leave a message. it only rings once and they hang up. I want these calls to stop. I had one come in while I was in a church service.

After 4+ calls per week, I finally answered the call. Heavy accent fellow telling me that he's from Microsoft and that my Windows program is in need of urgent attention. He asked me if my computer was on and I said, "yes, but it's in the office, so I will walk you over to it" I then set the phone down for about 40+ minutes and let him stay tuned in to nothing. This is my standard procedure for any robo/solicitor...leave the phone on, put it on a table for an hour and walk away. Amazing how nobody calls back :) Great way to stop this junk.

Yes, me too. I get a call EVERY DAY from 860-777-1234. I do not answer. It is an incredible nuisance and of course no one protects us from it.

Every day, almost without fail, I get a call from 860-777-1234. The nature of the digits makes me think that this number is somehow engineered, but in any case I did answer calls from it a few times and there was just silence at the other end of the line. This made me feel that some entity out there was trying to access data via my phone and I, unwittingly, had allowed access by answering. So I'm answering no more. There is no caller I.D. Therefore I cannot say what "company" this is. It is some kind of hacker and it/they should be punished. But of course no one watches over us except us.

Same experience as all other respondents here. Woman with accent was pretty good at deflecting my questions (Do you have a contract with Microsoft? Where is your data collection compiled? Where are you calling from? If you know what sort of malware that's been going in to my computer, why can't you tell me?). Interestingly, she said she was located in something that sounded like Brooklyn, CT, and that's where this number does originate. Anyway, told her I knew a scam when I heard one and hoped they'd all be arrested and hung up. I think next time I'll ask if they can identify my IP address and find out if they can help with my Ubuntu O/S.

Obvious attempt at a social engineering hack. Firstly NEVER do what someone who CALLED YOU says to do to your computer. This is Some guy with a thick Indian accent. He said Windows called him to report that my computer was downloading malware, and he was going to fix it. I ran with it, he told me to go to the start menu and open up a location, known to IT guys as the command prompt. He tried to get me to do things like giving him my IP address and disable my firewall. I played dumb, failed at all of his instructions, and generally wasted as much of his time as I could. I hope he calls back, I have more trollols in store

Got this call again and I yelled "bs" and blew my police whistle in the phone before he hung up! Said from Geek Squad.

Calls from this number stating I have a virus (they say they're with Micro Soft). Wants me to log into computer! Checked with our "computer" friends in the industry. They all say it's a scam. They're looking for money to supposedly fix your computer!! Please beware!!
