this shows up on my bank account registry as a debit of $1.31. how? why?

I didn't get a call from this number, BUT the phone number was on my bank statement for a $2.42 charge. this is what it looked likeUTILITY FEE 8665131550 HOUSTON TX $2.42In the bank details, it said the company type was "Computer Peripheral Equipment & Software" I have no idea what this is, and i tried calling the number and got no answer. Already called my bank, and got a new card issued, however they don't know exactly who the charge is from either.

Got an unauthorized charge from the same company on 1/12/09 for $1.48. 8665131550

I got a charge on my debit card as well for $0.84 on 2/16/09. I bank with Wells Fargo. Anyone else getting this? It definitely sounds like a scam to me. I closed my account immediately, but what a hassle to have to go and update my credit card with everyone now.

Correction, the charge was on 3/16/09.

Clear Brook Meadows' Convenience Fee for paying water bill online?

If you have your water bill charged to your credit card there is a 3% fee of the total bill charged for that convenience. I live in the Quail Valley subdivision in Missouri City and recently signed up for that service. Funny I wasn't aware of that charge.... but then I didn't read the fine print. Seriously... you would think that they would be glad to know they will always be paid but then it is a utility company so they will get every cent they can.

I figured this out. If you paid your houston water bill or MUD water bill online, this is the additional fee charged at the time of the transaction. It will say it online while you are processing payment and before you finalize it. It will Calculate the total water bill plus the online payment fee. But in your bank statement it shows up as 2 transactions. One is the actual statement billed to your account from MUD and the other is the fee to use the online payment service and its vendor name is UTLCNVFEE or UTLYCVNFEE.

That would be the equivalent of 5 percent of the water bill in Houston which is our MUD water bill or municipality utilities district. I checked mud online and my charge was correct. Now I can sleep better. Except next time ill pay in person or send check payment out coz 5 percent transaction fee is too hefty.

Thank you all. This was very good information. I noticed the UTLYCNVFEE8665131550 on my credit card bill and my credit card rep and they said the same- ". Computer Referral and Equipment". They asked if I wanted to cancel the card as it has been compromised. With other auto transactions, just wanted to check. Same experience .....called the number and it goes straight to an ext 279. Finally decided to just check online and thank goodness I did.
