They called and said it was a recorded call and asked for us by name. Probably some scammer.....

It was Wells Fargo Home Equity Customer Management.

This number calls us multiple times a day. When we answered it once, there was no one there.

I've recieved this same phone call on my caller I.D. Three times today February 29th, 2008. One at 4:25pm the next at 5:06pm The next at 6:48pm. I picked up two of those three calls. The first call was a man mumbling/moaning. On the second call no response.

Got several calls from these people in the last few days. When I called back, they wanted my SSN, Wells Fargo account #, full address and birthdate. I stopped giving them information at birthdate and asked why they needed all this information (I am currently a WF customer). They said they needed to verify my identity. I've had identity theft problems before, so I said I didn't want to give someone I didn't know to in fact be Wells Fargo all this info, so they said I could hang up, and when they eventually call me back again they could tell me what they were calling about without verifying all my id info.

I had the same experience. Have you found out any more information???

Received a call from this number today, and when I answered they hung up. When I called them back the message said that I had reached the Wells Fargo Home Equity Line of Credit department and to please hold. When I reached an operator they said that they needed my account number or social security number in order to help me. I hung up and placed a call to my local Wells Fargo office - I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Answered and no one there

The skinny on these boneheads is this: under Toll Free Directory, there is NO LISTING for Wells Fargo Home Equity Line of Credit, Financial Dept. or anything of the sort for this number. There are several 800 AND a few 866 Wells Fargo listings but none for this number. Next time they call, remind them that YOU are recording the call and will be forwarding the tape to the FCC and FTC for their investigation. They called us 3 times in one day. Haven't heard from them since and don't expect to, again.

I took the call. They talk about your credit line available...tell them thanks and not to call back. Nothing malicious that I can tell. Just annoying.
