This number is SAFE:I received a voice message from 1-877-539-1136 with an alternative number 1-800-887-8643. To be on the safe side, I called the Capital One main number on the back of the card instead. After waiting for about 7 minutes for a representative, she told me that Capital One indeed left a voice message on my machine regarding a pending dispute. So this was a legitimate call from Capital One.

I called that number too... It is Capital One. After giving them my SS# (saying it into their computer system), I was a little worried, since I usually make it a habit to call the number on the back of the card. Turns out they knew about a change that is being disputed on my Capital One card.

For me, this was a legitimate message from the dispute department at Capital One. The message was very vague and the guy talked so fast, that I couldn't understand half of what he said. Being very suspicious, I googled the number and found this website. I then called the number on the back of my card (as you should always do). They were able to verify that someone from the dispute department left the message and then transferred me to that department.Again, always call the number on the back of your card just to be safe.

Got a call from this number with very long extension. I returned the call thinking it was a collection agency due to a small medical charge Aetna has not paid. They started asking for detained info so I hung up and called Capitol One direct. Turns out it is a ligit number and they were calling me about a charge I disputed.
