My cell phone's list of 'missed calls' says that they called at 5:16pm today. I don't believe that I owe money to any agency who'd be unable to contact me by postal mail, and I've certainly never heard of Woodforest Bank.

This is not a scam....just so you know. It is Woodforest Bank, and they are trying to inform you about something on your account. Also, when they call, no answer and hang ups, at times.

it is Woodforest National Bank. it is not a scam. This is their toll free customer service number and they do ask for personal information. I hang up and call back always and verify that it is Customer Service calling and it is. These calls are legit. They don't tell you who first because they would be in violation of privacy practices if you were not verifying your information. I hate that is what we have come to now but I am equally cautious with the calling practices.

I have never had an account with them. I vote for scammer, give them no information.

I received 2 calls @ 10:50 am back to back. I received a voice mail said reference # 16, called it back spoke with someone from customer device & she asked for my name//SSN, I said I don't have an account with you I want my number removed. I verbally requested my cell phone number to be removed if they don't comply I will take legal action. I spoke with someone offshore, never give out personal information.

So i am a woodforest customer. i understand they originated in texas. however. The calling and silence is odd tho. I have gotten a few calls from this "number" the first i ignored. then i started picking up. usually nobody answers but I'm a joker so i started saying random things to them. after a while the calls have stopped. i think i freaked them out with deliverance, saw, texas chainsaw massacre, and rocky mt horror picture tv show references lol. but hey I'm not giving out my ssn or my name or my gender or race or anything to anyone i don't want to. oh no these buckos won't fool this one. scam alert. computer scam bots using a legit bank number as the caller id name but if you dig thru the cover you would find the call originating from a different number. if you trace the number origin to be foreign and potentially a scam operation behind the whole thing. and the scary part is that the person you talk to may be in a call center and sound completely legit because they don't actually know the company they are taking calls for is just a scam front. so the safest way is to bank in person. don't accept calls from telemarketers. set up getting calls directly from your local bank branch so "Mary from the bank" is legit because she's also your neighbor.

I see many of you say this is a bank in Walmart. I have never delt with them at all because I've been with a credit union for 26 years. Recently I got a family mobile plan from walmart & the calls started. Go figure. I never answer a number I don't know.
