it is wanting me to buy some medical alert thing.

Debt collector. Just left a message indicating they were calling to collect a debt and repeating the phone number.

I started getting these calls in December as well. Anybody has any ides if this is legit? on VM, they mention they are calling from Nationwide Debt collection agency. the weird part is that their calls somehow always go to my VM and the phone shows two missed calls from the same number at the same time.

I get the same calls and I do not owe anyone....and it goes right to my VM. I sent mine to auto reject so I won't get them anymore

Called back after many suspicious and vague voicemails were left, and this does seem legitimate. The person who answered was able to confirm information without me offering any in return. I gave basic evidence that this medical bill had been paid over six months ago directly to the hospital. He asked for the date the payment was posted and what credit card servicing company (not the credit card account #, social security number, or any identifying information was asked for or given, so did not seem like a scam to gain financial information). He then said this would be followed up on with the hospital and removed from their list. Also uses phone #: 888-418-6702.

This has all the signs of a phishing attempt or similar scam.If you would like to verify with certainty that you don't owe debts to Nationwide, Google Nationwide's customer support number and ask them. Do NOT use this phone number.
