This # claims to be from CapitalOne360, but when I called the CapitalOne360 customer service, they cannot identify this number at all. Beware!
I got a letter from capitalone360.com . It said an account had be opened in my name and they have to verify some info on new accounts for security purposes .
I got the same call and I called CapitalOne 360 and they said yes this is a legit call that they do on new account.
This number is a scam! They called requesting info from me saying they were from capital one I gave it to them and then realizes it was a scam. I had to cancel my credit cards and put an alert on my credit. Do not answer and do not give them any info. When I canceled my cards they actually sent me A letter pretending to be capital one again asking me for info on my credit card. Do not answer to these people!
It is not legit. Credit card companies do not call and request info from you over the phone.
Got a call to all 3 cell numbers in our family plan. About security on a recent opened account with Capital one 360. I dont have a Capital One account. I Called her and first question was what's my SSN! Refused to comply instead said you have my telephone number track it. She tried 2 of 3 numbers they called and found nothing...then put me on hold when I asked her for this "Account number" so I could check with my credit report and legal counsel. She started back tracking, no account, no balance not to worry as it was being resolved in house etc etc. FULL SCAM!!!
This number was left as a message on my phone and my email. I called it and they requested the last 4 digits of my SSN and my DOB. At the time I was logging in to my account and saw there was a different number. I hung up and called that one instead. Someone else picked up, asking for last 4 digits of SSN and my DOB. I asked if the other number was legit, and they said it was.
When you receive an email such as this, NEVER call the number provided in the email or click any hyperlinks. If you know the company is legit (such as CapitalOne), go directly to the official website (NOT through any hyperlinks in an email) by typing the official web address in your browser or doing a google search. Then use the contact info on the official site to speak to a representative. To be even more safe, if you have a CapitalOne branch near you visit it to resolve the issue, that way you know for absolutely sure that you're speaking to a legit employee.I received an email stating that my account was going to be closed if I did not call 1-888-420-9943 within 10 days. The email claimed it was based on credit history, however I have excellent credit. I closed the email, opened my browser, and went to the official website. I called the number found on the official website and they said there WAS some odd activity on my account. Someone had been logging on and off my account but had not transferred any money. To be safe, I transferred all my money into a new account number. ONLY do this type of transaction when you KNOW for a FACT that you are speaking with a true company representative. I cannot stress how much you have to be savvy about these things. There are so many scammers out there...anyone can easily copy an official email, paste it into a new email, and send it out pretending to be from that company.
When the first question the person asks is, "What is your social security number so I can look up your account?" you KNOW you're being scammed. *Click.*
It's a legit number. It might sound like a scam with all the questions they ask you but that's pretty standard for banks trying to work out you are who you say you are. They had info that only the bank would know about such as my last deposited cheque. If you don't call them you're going to have to deal with the consequences of them possibly closing your account.
