IRS claim, judgment against you. Stated “common wealth & associates” out of California.
Caller ID on message is Mark Collins. Says there is a claim against 'me' and my SSN. Does not identify 'who' they are. SCAM!!!
Recieved an automated message saying they received a claim with my social security number on it and said that it was my "final opportunity before court intervention". They didn't identify their company and they left information on a recording which is unlawful! They are only allowed to tell you it's an attempt to collect a debt nothing more on a recording, other than their company name and phone number. It's definitely a SCAM!!
I always look up these threatening phone calls. The IRS does not call... they send letters!
They called my mom saying I’m being sent to court. The weird part was they didn’t know my correct last name. How does the irs not know your correct name. Looked up the numbers and see this pages. So annoying like stop trying to scam people and get a real job!!
Message from Earl Johnson from Commonwealth & Associates telling me that I owed a debt that I already paid off and had the receipt from the company. He told me that he had no receipt of payment, so it meant it was not paid and that if I didn't pay it immediately, they were going to take me to court, and suspend my tax returns (huh?). I told him that "I will see you in court" and he hung up on me.
Definitely a scam trying to scare you into thinking there's a legal claim against you.
I got a call a little bit ago, I didn't call it back right away but right after they called me they called my brother phone and then my sister in laws phone telling both of them that they were trying to get a hold of me. So I called and the guy answered saying "collection office" never gave his name. He asked if I was calling from the same number that was called then asked if I received a package today, I was home all day and nobody came by trying to deliver anything. He said that its a court order to appear because a bank is taking me to court for fraud because of a credit card I supposedly owed over $3,500.00 through the bank, which I never had. They had any and all my info; past and current address, parents names, and siblings names, obviously, and no telling what else. He said he would be contacting my parents because they were listed on the account too. I've never had both my parents listed on any of my financial stuff, especially a credit card. I was still asking questions and all of a sudden he said "good luck in court" REALLY fast and then hung up the phone. It took me a sec to actually figure out what he said by then he had hung up.
Got the same call today..i am going to call them back and give them a dose of their own medicine. the guy on the message sounds like the guy who answered, I hung up. Anyone have an other news like a resolution to this? The number seems fairly new
