Call came in at 9am and I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. They didn't leave message. I called the number back and got an automated message "that the number I've called no longer is in service and has been disconnected".
Poor quality sound, a call center of some sort, very strong Indian accent. I think he said he was calling from National Grand Center, but couldn't really tell. He claimed I"d filled out a survey while shopping & that I'd won a trip. I said I hadn't, and hung up.
Got a call today at 8:15 EST and it said Dallas, TX which would be like 6:15 there I believe so that was already strange. A man with a very heavy Indian accent told me he was calling about a contest I had entered. I couldn't understand what the company was and when I asked him who he was looking for he said "the owner of this phone". What a joke.
Second time this call has come. Each time comes first thing in the morning. I do not pick up since I don't recognize the number and when I checked, see it is from Texas. Don't know anyone there and realize it is a scam call. Thought advertising and telemarketers can't use cell numbers.
Received a call from 972.994.6834 10am Saturday morning. Man with a heavy Indian accent. Told me I had entered a contest and that I was a winner. When questioned, he said it was with World Wide Travel agency. The options were to select a 3 day hotel + airfare or a 3 day Mexico cruise. To obtain the prize, my husband and I would have to attend a 90 min. presentation at the Hilton Garden Inn in San Leandro for their promotion. I told him I was not able to attend on the weekend and he was very persistent. Don't know if it's legit or not.
Found additional information on the Complaints Board website. Sounds like others went to the presentation and it was for a timeshare. Then when they try to book the free vacation, they made it impossible or a big hassel to do so.
The time share angle makes sense--I had the same call and figured I'd at least hear him out, but the insistence on knowing my HH income made me nervous.... Why do they need my HH income if I won a free trip?
Just got a call from this number, it disconnected after the first ring. Instead of calling the number back, I googled it and found this page. The number on my phone also said Dallas TX. No, I'm not calling them back for whatever sales pitch they want to throw at me.
