Fedup is correct. Portfolio was ordered to pay people that they have harassed over the years. I was one the members of the Class Action law suit and received a small check a few months back. If they've harassed you, you can also sign up to receive a check because these people are still doing what they do best. Harass people over non-existent, "ghost debts" that they've bought up for pennies on a dollar. scumbags with nothing better to do with their time but harass.

This is a scam debt recovery company. They call repeatedly with multiple excuses (IRS investigations, child support another day, and car loans) trying to get money from you. They are super ghetto and trashy. Report this number.

A robocall from UN-known debt collection scam - a scam as I owe no one as I pay cash for everything - A search shows this number to be from Newark, NJ. A land line using PAETEC COMMUNICATIONS, INC. - NJ. They keep calling using a different new number after being told to remove my number from their call list and blocked.

Hi Formersec,I read your post about the unwanted calls you have been receiving. I had the same problem with my new phone number and it's former owner. I told the bill collector at least 2-3 times that I was not who they were looking for and to please quit calling me. Well, they kept calling so one day I called them back. I was quite tired and PO'ed of their calls and them ignoring my requests to quit calling. I got pretty gruff with whomever I spoke to explaining about my requests to quit calling me. I also got very specific about what I would do next as far as reporting them to the FTC and very firmly warned them to cease the calls immediately. I was not out of line, not name calling or anything like that but I effectively got them to understand they had used up every chance that I had given them before. That's been a few years ago now but apparently I got my message across to them because they have never called me back.I'm sure in my own mind that your Mr. Wilson did formerly have your current phone number. Then you stated that he must still be giving out that phone number to current creditors or bill collectors. While that is a possibility, I highly doubt that is really whats going on in your situation. Once the creditors and bill collectors obtain what they believe is a good number for the debtor, they hang onto it as if it were a matter of life and death, at least until it's proven that the debtor in fact no longer uses that number. Some of the information the "file" debt collectors receive is often several years old. These debts are often sold to other bill collectors when the first, second or subsequent bill collector is unsuccessful in their attempts to recover the debt. Received this call on my cell. Reverse look up says it's a High Fraud or Scam. Caller ID states it's a Debt Collector. No message was left.
