I've had multiple calls from this number to my cell phone over the last few days, twice yesterday. I either don't answer when i see it identified as unknown, or i hang up as soon as i recognize it as a junk or spam phone call.
TelePlex. Scam.Not my first ride 'round the block with this type of scam (Google "Birch Communications" also). Out-rightly claim to be an AT&T representative calling about the phone bill ("We provide billing for customers with less than 12 lines."), that to keep or lower our rates we must verify such-and-such information. The second I ask if it's a 3rd party seller, a "supervisor" gets on and lays on the pressure. So I say I will call AT&T directly to check our contract and rates (which I just updated last month), and he says, "How dare you talk to me like that. How DARE you," and starts getting super nasty. I just laughed because they seriously hate that. "Bye, Felicia." And if you call the number back, "It is not necessary to dial a 1 when calling this number," which is an area code far out of our region.Here's the rub if you fall for this. AT&T will balance bill you for the rest of your contract term because you are agreeing to use another carrier who piggybacks AT&T. Unfortunately, AT&T doesn't care to take a report of this scam. Understandably, they can't control it, but flagging a specific business name so that when customers DO call with inquiries would at least allow the CSR to empower the customer with information.
I have received a number of calls from this number. They always hang up. If I could get my hands on this person he'd have to get a hand transplant because I'd cut his off so he could never harass anyone else again!
called in regards to a rate change in our AT&T account. Asked the lady to verify herself by giving me the account number to which the rate change was related to as we have many accounts with AT&T. she asked if I was the owner then said that I was not on the approved list of people she needed to speak with. She did not ask for my name so how did she know I was not on her approved list? I simply thanked her for calling and asked her to call back when she is able to verify herself by providing an account number or the name of the manger/owner she is looking to speak with.
Telplex keeps calling and representing themselves as AT&T and trying to get us to switch to their billing company
