I just received a phone number from this same 202-455-8888 number 2x. It is 11:45 pm mountain time. Very fishy.

got calls from this number and 385-249-3124. the 385 number answered with a recording about a radio station.

Google Voice verification system. OK.

they got my # off a Craigslist add

this numbered text me about an ad on craigs list and asked if he could call and talk to me. I said yes and he called. when i answered the phone it asked me for a 2 digit code so i hung up. He text me again and said i needed to put in the code, and he told me what it was then called again. I still did not put in the code. The text said his name was jason and he was out of country right now but he would pay me by paypal and send someone to pick it up. The number was 202-455-8888

Google phone number verification, you have to enter 2 digits number assigned to you by Google Voice to be able to continue using the Google Voice/Google Text forwarding service on your phone.

Keep in mind that if you get a call from this number and aren't activating Google Voice or any Google service, someone probably just mistyped your phone number by mistake during their own activation process. Doesn't necessarily mean anything mischievous or malicious is going on. I set up Google Voice for my parents the other day. This number called and asked for the two digit code Google Voice had given me to verify with [Standard Procedure]. For whatever reason, my parents were going through their caller ID history and didn't recognize the phone number(Which is apparently out of Washington DC). I reminded them I set up Google Voice earlier in the week and that phone call was part of the process..

please delete this number from my phone. got 6 calls from it.
