Don't answer these calls. The caller will know it's an active number if you answer and then pass along your number.

It is a call center for Democratic National Committee, asking for me by name and (presumably) for money. I told her I vote Dem but have no money to contribute. Caller said she'd call back another time and I told her "I said I do not have any money to contribute, so please do NOT call again." And then I hung up before she could say any thing else.

This showed up on my Call Blocker, because I've blocked the area code.

I use Google Voice and block all calls from anyone not in my Contacts list. A little of a pain sometimes cause if somebody says they'll call me back, I have to ask from what # so I can add it into my contacts. Otherwise, all numbers from 000-000-0000 to 999-999-9999 are BLOCKED! I just see the failed attempts to call me in the call log. On my cell phone, I've set it to do not disturb and allow to ring if caller is in my Contacts list there, then I use an app to sync my contacts list with my Google contacts. Again, a bit of a pain, but my phones stay quiet.

Called my home phone, registered on the DNC, at 5:01 PST. My caller ID states "Unavailable". I picked up the phone before it could go to my answering machine, and then just hung it up. I work from home, and I get 8 to 9, sometimes more, telemarketer/scam calls every day. My call blockers is full on my Panasonic. I may need to upgrade to a different phone to get capability to block more calls. I'm thankful for this site - wealth of information! Thanks all!

My call blocker has a 250 number limit. These crooks seem to change numbers frequently, and so I find it's usually safe to delete the oldest numbers in order to make room for more. I keep records of which numbers I've deleted so I can identify any I may want to keep blocked. Try it. It's an ongoing chore. We all need to start pressuring the Congress to do something meaningful and enforceable about this. I suggest that fines, say $10 per call, be imposed upon the telephone carriers themselves. That would shut this nonsense down in a hurry!
