Was receiving live calls from them. I let them know they had the wrong number... I thought it was done. Now they have started using autodialers, along with the "case number" to refer to when calling back. Ace Cash express... Lone sharks who don't verify their victims info.
Actually picking up and hanging up is not the best method to use. you should atleast find out what they are calling about... A debt collection company usually only holds a debt for 120 days before sending the debt back to the original creditor. the original creditor will then send it to another collection agency for 120 days. After the third collection agency or 360 - 365+ days they will usually proced to litigation which will place liens against your home, garnishment of wages ect. ect... Thats why i say you should atleast speak to a live person once if it is not your debt then you have nothing to worry about except for 1 call a day for the next year or so.... IF it is your debt ask for payment araingments or a Settlement most collection agencies will settle the debt for 40% - 60% off of the balance depending on exactly who you you owed the original debt to.. oh and some collection agencies purchase debt if this is the case for you... YOUR F***ED.. pay it as fast as you can because they usually mean business. instead of a year you have 120 days tops before legal action is taken. and you never want to upset the debt collector who is handeling your file. HE / SHE could sell your information" remember they have your name, address, phone, Social security number date of birth they even know all your relatives, neighbors, you name it they know every thing about you. they could turn your file over to the attorney as soon as you say F**K off and hang up. so pissing them off is not smart at all. and not answering the phone doesn't help eather. If they can't reach you on your phone. they will start calling family, friends, neighbors, your employer, ect.ect until they do get you on the phone. and it is all legal for them to do such...... as for mailing a certified letter they are only required to mail you one letter when they recieve your file. so for your sake better hope the mail system didn't lose it. or you through it out thinking it was junk mail!!!!!
The nitorious "DO NOT CALL LIST" ok people time to set the record streight on this one.....IT ONLY APPLIES TO TELEMARKETERS or for the retards of the world that need the dummies guide verson. PEOPLE TRYING TO SELL YOU SOME THING....Debt collectors are collecting money you owe for something you already recieved or purchased. they do not apply to the FCC regulations on this. the only laws a Debt collection company must abide by are the laws set forth by the FDCPA "Fair debt collections practices act" and any state laws governing collections....
Don't know who they are. Don't owe any money to ACE CASH EXPRESS. The weird thing is that they called on thanksgivings day. It sound like they are trying to get personal info to steal identity
I've gotten two messages on my apartment phone this past week. I am out of town and check my voicemail every so often and discovered this. Both messages were the same - just saying it's urgent I call their number (only provided once in the message), and reference a case number (provided twice). I've deleted the messages because they never say who they're trying to reach, nor what company they are calling from. The prior messages on this number indicate it's a collection agency, but the only loans I have are for student loans and a car loan and I pay those on time. I figure if they are really trying to reach me, they will not leave an automated message and they will say "this is so-and-so company and we are trying to reach so-and-so."
Found a voicemail on my home phone machine today (Sunday afternoon) urging me to immediately call 888-753-2355 and reference a case number left with the message. So I took the bait and called. The woman who answered the phone opened with no identifying information, only "May I help you?" When I asked what company I was reaching she told me "Ace Cash Express." I told her about the call I received and provided her with the case number. She asked me to verify who she was speaking to and I told her I needed to know the nature of the call before providing any information. She then abruptly said "Since you are refusing to cooperate I am terminating this call," and hung up.
Ace would ony call you if you owe them money, i do and they call all the time. When i pay them it stops. But i have never recieved a sales call from them.
