UPDATEChecked my phone log after I got that "way too early in the morning" call today. I found that Portfolio Recovery has called me 7 times in the past 3 weeks! Not only that, but out of the 7 calls, 2 of the calls were from the same phone number. The other 5 calls were from 5 different numbers! I did report them to the FCC ( www.fcc.gov/ ).Here's a list of the numbers that were shown on caller ID as being from Portfolio Recovery:205-396-3619412-847-5934 (got this one twice)859-586-9557817-479-9154 (got this one twice)518-312-4713Hope this helps others to identify this company as bad news!
Here's another to add to your list: 205-396-3619. Thank you for posting these others. I think I've gotten "calls" from a few of them. They just ring once then hang up. Needless to say, I do NOT call them back.
I started getting calls from Portfolio Recovery BEFORE I got a cordless phone hooked up to this Basic Talk/cable modem phone service and continue to today. Problem is that this number has only been assigned to me for the last 8 days and is unpublished and unlisted, plus I don't owe any debits to anyone. Here's their website information so you can give them their own address and call back information; Is someone using your name on a PRA LLC account? They are SLIMY UNETHICAL CROOKED Collectors that TRY and collect on debts that are far past their statute of limitations. They also are known for TRYING to scam people to pay on debts they don't even owe. BEWARE of their intimidation tactics! They are LYING SCUM who will say or do anything to scare you into paying them ANYTHING.They call in the morning before 8 am and in the evening past 8 pm, they even call on Sundays.
This has been an ongoing thing. Coming in on my Landline, which I largely ignore. Just a pain to get up and check. I am not behind on anything. In fact most of my stuff such as the Mortgage is on Auto pay. I do keep an eye on my credit reports and they are fine. They do call at various times and the day of the week doesn't seem to matter. Usually as a rule, if I don't recognize the number I won't answer it. There is a phone version of Phishing and they are looking to see if someone is at the number. If you answer, then the fun begins. I deal with this stuff on the computer all the time. For me, it is easy to track them down on the computer, and as a lot here have found out, if you have caller I.D., you can track those as well. You can get a cease and Desist order as has been mentioned. As for the computer, most banks / companies have a Fraud site to report the stuff to. They have gotten very good at Spoofing the Bank / Companies Letter heads when you open you email. I have found that even the URL can be a bit tricky and requires further digging. Not sure of how that got his number. It belonged to my Mom. When she passed last year, I bought the house from the estate and kept the same number. Collection Agencies use a variety of names trying to be slick. This is just one of them. I know of one that used Credit Adjustmant Board as well.
