They are allowed to call because they are not a solicitor. The DO NOT CALL list does not apply to surveys, political calls, bill collectors, etc. It will only eliminate calls from solicitors.
They just called me at about 9:40 p.m. Left a voice message, which I have yet to listen to.
They are a research company called Scarborough Research. They get numbers randomly from a data base. I told them to remove my number from the database.
Calls after 8:00 p.m. - doesn't leave voicemail messages. Rec'd several calls from various area codes but with the 7digit nos.XXX)736-3080
These people are from Nielsen Ratings. They go by the name of Scarborough RSC, and they call my landline every day at all hours, which is extremely annoying. They don't stop, either. They don't leave a message and they don't answer when you pick up. I don't have any way to block them from my phone, otherwise I would have done so already. I wish there was a way to force them to stop calling me. It's especially annoying when they call in the evenings. Why should I have to put up with this harrassment???
It's actually true. You just answer a bunch of questions about your radio, tv and need preferences and they send you cash. They are a tad relentless though with their follow up tactics.
Got a call from the number above, listed as Scarborough RSC, on 11/30/16 at 7:30 p.m. local time. Asked us to take a survey about viewing/listening preferences re radio, TV, newspapers. I agreed -- she already knew my name and address... I asked who had employed them for this task and she said they were affiliated with Neilson -- no surprise. She several questions about radio stations listened to and at what times of day; then ran thru a series of questions about newspaper viewing and which ones we read -- she listed many papers in nearby locales as well as a few we do view. Everything listed IS a legitimate publication. This went on to include internet viewing of the publications. Then she asked about TV and internet service providers. The rep was very polite and said they were sending me $10 and another little paper survey to fill out and she hoped we'd send it back. We'll see if we get anything in the mail. We never get anything except calls from people trying to sell us something like home renovations, etc., not just taking surveys, so decided to agree to this one. No really personal questions were asked. It all took about 15 minutes. It could be annoying if you're in a hurry and don't want to answer questions, but there was no hint of any impropriety at all.
