Listen to what Laura said. If you don't know the number, don't answer it. If it's important, they'll leave a message. Then I will do an internet search. If it's a good #, I can white-list on my phone. If it's not, I can add to my black-list or auto-reject pile....
WARNING--BEWARE!! These callers are B I G credit card criminals, known as the card service scammers! Under NO circumstances, give these lowlifes your credit card number, or you will regret it forever!
If they're willing to break the law to run a scam and steal your money, why do you expect them to obey a law saying not to call us? They break laws, that's what criminals do.
I responded to the Criminal Telemarketing call and told the criminal who had called that he had called a public payphone. He was baffled and didn't understand how he had called a public payphone. I love to mess with stupid criminals.
Have had a bazillion scam calls, and have NEVER heard of ANYONE who has had problems with being charged for bogus high rate calls (seems to be a myth that gets bandied about). If someone was charged for such calls, why in the heck would they pay? In order to end up with problems, you have to give out your credit card number to unknown callers.
The credit card scammers actually are connected to a whole array of scams. Nothing stopped these type of calls until I stopped speaking English when I answered the calls (seems to work better than NEVER answering, or trying to block the unwanted calls). You don't have to be fluent in another language, just pretend that you are speaking another language. Of course, doesn't work on the credit card scam calls that require you to punch in a number - but the tide of scam calls has finally decreased (sweet quiet!).
Bridget from card holder services. "There are no problems with your account but it is important you call us immediately..."Scammers trying to get info.
I got a missed call from this number at work today and obviously did not answer it. No voicemail. But when I texted the number back (do not call me again) it responded quickly telling me to call the number, hence I deleted it.
This number has been reported to DNC Registry and local authorities for criminal investigation.
