Yes they are scammers. I recently got my ID stolen because of this. I have reported this to the local police and they said they will look into it. You people should report them to the FCC and the FBI like I have done. Be smart for once.
Isn't it amazing that our government is so interested in business that it does nothing to stop such scams and block such callers. Heaven forbid we would suffer from not getting a call from even a "legitimate" telemarketer. This clown is especially grating because he does not realize that a NO means no! But, then, soon it will be time for the politicos to start their plethora of calls promising plenty of [***] but not any substance.
By the way, the purpose of these calls is so that you will invite them to take control of your computer (using non-Microsoft tools, imagine that? Microsoft using third party tools...) and they'll install malware (viruses, trojans, backdoors, etc.) to their liking. If you fell for it, your safest bet is a complete wipe and reinstall. There's no way of knowing for sure what they put on your system after you let them in, since the process usually involves some sort of back door for them to put junk/malware on your system at their leisure.
SCAM!OMG! They know my computer has a problem, they can fix it remotely, I want to pay them to do it as fast as possible (with a money order)- but we are plagued by a bad phone line, and I don't understand computers - can't navigate the keyboard and keep rebooting the PC because I am nervous about tech. But they are going to tenaciously work through these difficulties to solve my problem.
Same thing happened to me today on March 19, 2016. Bunch of crap... Blocked the number...
Just received a call from a young man with a foreign accient. He said he was with windows support and was calling me about tech support. I let him know I did not have a windows computer and he hung up on me. How this helps someone
this number keeps calling me...I have told them repeatedly I am on the "do not call list". Today they are saying they are calling me from WINDOWS about my computer. SCAM......I have them blocked now
This Indian guy calls from different numbers but its always about technical services from windows. His name was Rick today and before that his name was Dave or Justin. I just tell him that he's a dirt bag and a few other choice words... anyway I'd like these calls to stop!
Keep calling every 15 minutes for the last hour. I never answer because if they cannot leave a message on the machine and I do not recognize number there is no point. I know about the Microsoft scam and am ready to block the number!
On 5/25/15, I received a phone call from this Indian person saying that they were sorry I was having a problem with operating my computer. He said that it has been very slow and they are doing everything they can to fix it. He wanted me to turn on my computer and I told him that my computer was in the shop and hung up on him. Over a year ago, the same thing happened also; however, I logged in at the time thinking it was really a problem with Microsoft. After a few innocent maneuvers, he wanted me to enter my password and I just hung up on him.
