Trust me it's not because of Iphone or Android, it's that they just got your number, possibly bought a calling list? Who knows, but it doesn't matter what BRAND phone you have, it may depend on the service - AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Straight Talk, etc how easy it is to get your number though. If you're on Android download Mr Number for free and you can block numbers free through it.
Aries, the people calling your phone are not here, they most likely do not look here. They just want to scam you into giving them your credit card info or obtaining other info about you.
The do not call registry works for legitimate companies, these people are scammers wanting your credit card info, etc. These people route through several systems around the world before connecting to the system where these numbers reside so the government., etc, etc. has/have trouble tracking them down. There's nothing that can be done until they are caught up with, they can't be fined.
yup. i got it too. oddly, my phone didnt ring it just recorded it as a missed call. i was seriously just looking at my phone when this occurred too. but yeah, same with me...if i dont recognise the number i wont answer, if it really was someone i knew the voicemail message instructs them to leave a message because i wont pick up the phone otherwise. esp this time of year with all the politicking adverts

I called Citibank's other number and confirmed this was their Consumer Support number. It is legitimate. Processed the information they needed to verify my account. I originally thought it was fraud but it is real.

We receive calls at our place of business from these people every day and they claim to be with Spectrum. It sounds like a call center in India; noisy background noise and each person who calls has a strong accent.
