I got a call today and same thing.. from Kenneth D. Brown.. Indian sounding man saying he was from Microsoft and my computer was corrupt,,, out of curiosity.. I asked him where he was located.. He hesitated then said S. Carolina.. I told him I was with the Attorney General's office and that we wanted to have a conversation with him.. He hung up immediately..
Foreign accent can hear call center activity. Man by the name of Jason smith (funny I know) tells me my computer is sending out signals that something is wrong with . He said he was calling from "windows" then when I asked him his telephone number he hung up on me.
And if they are a scam and do not care about the Do not Call list.. what in the world does the Government have to do with it.. a responsible telemarketer will not call.. irresponsible ones will.. The Government only keeps the records.. they don't dial the number..
There was a long silence and as I was about to hang up I heard a "hello". The woman then proceeded to tell me that they have gotten reports that there is something wrong with my computer. I interrupted her, asking her if she felt bad about trying to scam people with that "b.s." (but I used the full words), told her to never call again and hung up.
people who commit these kinds of phone scams identity theft and this guy are gonna be the first to get their heads cut off when the time comes
I get a call from this guy Kenneth Brown at least twice a day. The first time I answered and when he started talking I hung up but they keep calling over and over.
Got this call this morning. Caller ID said "BROWN, KENNETH D." and the number. Since I did not recognize either the name nor the area code, I let it go to ans. machine. After three rings, they gave up; our machine is set to pick up at the FIFTH ring, as most SPAMMERS do not wait that long!Since our number is very similar to our local library, I was giving this caller the benefit of the doubt, until I came here and saw so many complaints and warnings.BTW, OTHER numbers that have called us lately using this same 'fix your computer remotely' are:810-410-4973 "MICHIGAN"202-555-0110 "OUT-OF-AREA"202-555-0172 "DIST OF COLUMBIA"410-555-4487 "OUT-OF-AREA"703-272-4699 "VIRGINIA"407-610-1078 "JORDAN BROWN"253-292-3908 "TACOMA, WA"305-999-9920 NO INFO ON CID185-537-2664 NO INFOALL of these numbers are very likely SPOOFED, and therefore untraceable by authorities.NOTE: They LOVE to use OBVIOUSLY PHONY #s like "555" exchanges which are intentionally fake for TV & Movie numbers and also the last name "BROWN"!!!This is a VERY DANGEROUS scam with the victims losing greatly; Stay VIGILANT, people!
