Same exact thing just happened to me except I told him I didn't own a computer, (lol), and then he mentioned my last name and I said I didn't know who they were. Hopefully Microsoft wasn't hacked like so many companies have been. It was strange he knew my last name.

Total scam ,they want to access your computer ans ssn. Dont answer dont tell them [***].total SCAM.

Scam call from "Windows Tech Support." Indian fellow who claimed his name was Hodges and calling from upstate NY. Bad news!

Same thing computer has reported to them it has errors. Asked them who they were working for he said Microsoft. Could not tell me my IP address that was sending the error message.

Got a phone call from this number at 8:11AM PST and didn't answer. They didn't leave a voicemail. Probably spam

Just received a call from this very same number1-307-243-5143. It was a man with a very heavy Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft Windows. I had a very hard time understanding him, and asked What? many times & explained that I do not do these types of things over the phone. He continued to ramble on, to which point I asked What? again, stating that I could not understand him to which he loudly & very clearly responded, "F%#* off! Do you understand that?!?!" and then hung up on me.

This caller did not speak English very well and threatened to kill me.

I just endured four (yes 4) calls from this number in three (3) minutes. Unbelievable! Caller ID showed Name Unavailable, 1-307-243-5143 and the calls came at 1:15, 1:15, 1:16, 1:18 this afternoon. That's some fast dialing and my phone is set to ring five times before it goes to the answering service. I never answer unidentified calls so had to listen to 20 rings of the phone until these scammers got tired. I checked the number out here, thanks to all who reported, I quickly addeed this number to my massive Blocked Calls list and didn't worry that I was blocking someone important. I bet they'll try again!?!
