I'd advise everyone to get some kind of call blocking software on your phone.The Do Not Call registry is not 100%, and you should not rely on it. It is only for legitimate businesses.What you have just experienced with this call is a dialer fishing for active phone numbers. It could be an actual person, depending on the budget of place wanting to get the numbers, but what it comes down to is when you pick up the phone you have just indicated to the dialer that your number is an active number.It is a lot like email spamming for active email's. They send you an email that may look like a legitimate email with a link in the email. Once you click on the link, it registers with the originator of the email that your email address is a valid active email address, and now they can start spamming you harder. Sometimes there is no link, just opening the email can have the same effect.Anyways, I do not answer calls calls that I do not recognize. I research a missed call ( such as using this site ), and after researching the number if its obvious spam, I block it with my call blocker software.Long winded response, but a lot of responses here with people not sure what to do.I have found that the free call blockers don't work so well, i ended paying $10 for one that has worked very well for me, and I have been using it for 4 years now.

This number called me at 3am! Answered got a noise like a fax machine, this it went to busy signal. They called again today & it did the same thing. Don't appreciate being called in the middle of the night!!!!!

Okay, Nick I get calls from CA too. I just received two calls within the last hour from this 307 area code. I answered, but I didn't say anything. They hung up.

Answered the call by mistake and looking for my name and last name. Sounds like Indian tone asking for information I never said It was me I just said wrong number and hanged up.
