These telemarketers are making illegal calls, but they are spoofing the number that shows up on your Caller ID making it difficult for the FTC/FCC to find them and shut them down. They are trying to steal your credit card number or any other personal information. If you speak to one of them to ask them nicely to stop calling, they hang up on you (or worse). Never give them any information!What CAN you do? Report each and every call to www.donotcall.gov. Add each number to your phone's address book under "spam" or "do not answer" so that you won't be bothered when they call back again.

Received a call from this number. When I answered no on was there. Immediately called the number back and received a message the number was not in service. I am on the no call list. I DON'T LIKE BEING BOTHERED WITH NONSENSE CALLS!! I filed a complaint with the FCC. Everyone should do the same

I'm retired I'm have fun now with telemarketers.I use my Festus accent from Gunsmoke.Start asking questions about fixing my lawn mower.Describing one problem then the next and askingthem what should I do.......I'll ask them is there anyoneelse there that knows anything about a kerosene poweredlawnmower. I had a gal going crazy trying to sell me herspill and me just keep talking about my lawnmower.Try it you'll like it.

I think the best thing to do is tell them you have $20 or $30K in credit card debt at over 15% interest and can barely make the payments. They will end up asking you for the 800 service number on your credit card. I told the last one that I didn't have it with me but would have to find it, so he said he would wait. I went back to work on my computer and let him keep waiting.Maybe I should have strung him along even more by saying I couldn't find it where I looked, but would look again elsewhere, and then go back to my work or whatever I was doing. Letting somebody wait like that is probably the rudest and most disrespectful thing you can do.

A recorded message saying I was eligible to lower my interest rate, but it didn't say for what. My caller ID said it was a cell phone from Florida. It said I could push "3" to stop getting the calls, but from what I've been reading here, it sounds like it doesn't work. I think I'll just block the number.

We have a simple rule: unless the calling line ID shows someone we know (and want to talk to), we just DON"T ANSWER THE PHONE! The machine picks up, and 998 out of 1000 times, they hang up. If it's truly important (once my credit card company called to confirm an overseas purchase, for example), they WILL leave a message. Otherwise, well, if it's not important enough for them to leave a message, it's not important enough for me to talk to them.Messages on my machine are easy enough to delete if I don't want to hear the whole message. . .Of course it's convenient that the people who make the laws, made themselves exempt from the DNC law. Surprise, surprise. They did the same thing with Social Security and the "affordable health care" laws. I'm surprised they didn't exempt themselves from the Income tax! (Ohhh, don't say that too loudly, they'll hear it!)
