In most cases these calls are not simply 'research' purposes. They get information from free from the 'consumers' of a market, hence random number calls. They then SELL these information to 3rd party companies in form of survey data and such. In a sense, they are profiting off your time. And I'm pretty sure like telemarketers and cons of other foreign nations that is outsourced so they fall under a big loophole, while the organization says it doesn't do one thing, does mean it will regulate it's staff to follow such policy.You will get cold calls and hostile calls regardless of what a organization says, because the staff themselves are the ones doing it on their own choice. So my advice to everyone is to RECORD all calls, there is no real law on recording calls if you are the one receiving it, plus those telephone laws are decades old.

I mean, does anyone have incriminating evidence of someone recording a conversation, can actually prove it?You can't ask for a court warrant simply because a organization 'believes' that a person has done something illegal, that enough isn't convincing enough.

I got a call from this number today, I wasn't sure if was one of those c*ck suckers from the collection agency or not, so i wasn't gonna answer it, but then after like two and a half rings i grabbed it, and whoever was calling hung up on me.

I decided to call them back... it's a company called Research Dimensions. I wish they would choose a better time to call, my infant daughter was just falling asleep!

This number keeps calling at least twice a day and there is no way to get them to stop because when you answer they hang up and when you call back it just tells you who they are but no way of telling them to stop I thought being on the Do not call list would stop companies like this.

Hi all, I work at Research Dimensions! The reason why I am here is because I have consistently been getting calls on my cell phone from a 613 area code number for over a week, and I went ahead and googled it. Turns out that 613 number is actually a scam (they claim to be government officials and they decide to call me on a Sunday - huh?)... So, since I work at a call centre myself, I decided to look up our company's phone number, just to see what people are saying. And, that's how I ended up here! So, while I'm here, I'd like to answer your questions and clarify a few things. First of all, Research Dimensions Ltd. is a market research company - has been for 30+ years now. We conduct market research studies nation-wide. That includes research related to both business and consumer products and services. I would like to stress that we are strictly a market research company - and when we call you, we do not intend to sell anything to any of our respondents.We are represented by the Marketing Research Intelligence Association (MRIA - website: www.mria-arim.ca), and ensure that we follow all required guidelines as set by MRIA. Our calling times: Yes, you may have received a call from us between the hours of 5 pm and 9 pm on a week day, or even on a weekend. If this call was made to your home, please note that our intention is solely to conduct a survey with you about products and/or services strictly related to general consumers. The reason we (or any other market research company, for that matter) call at those hours are because that is the only time we expect people to be home (you know, most people are back from work and such...) Where the national "Do not call" list is concerned, please note that the list is only applicable to telemarketers and solicitors (people who are trying to sell to you) over the telephone. The list does not apply to surveys and polls. Our aim is to collect public opinion, and that is why, legally, we can still call. However, getting us to stop calling you is possible. You can take one of the following two steps: 1) When an interviewer calls, you can request them to take your number off the list; OR,2) You can call the phone number in discussion here (i.e. 416-486-6161 - extension 1 to be routed to the phone room), and request to have your number removed that way. If no one answers the phone, you are welcome to leave a voicemail with your phone number, and we will remove your phone number in no time. I would like to point out that, while we have control over our own company list, we are unable to remove your phone number from all other market research companies' lists.I think it's important to point out that we call "random" numbers. That pretty much goes to say that we do not have any information about you - and that includes you name, mailing address or any other personal information about you. In the event we do call your house and you complete a survey with us, we would ask you for basic information for demographic purposes (the information is later stripped from our data and is presented to our client in aggregate form only - and NO, we do not pass your information to a third party - not even to our clients)... As I was saying, in order for us to remove your phone number from our databases and to make sure we never call you again, we absolutely need a phone number. Hi, all. Yes, we’re a company called Research Dimensions, and we do surveys to get people’s opinions on different topics.Taking part in our surveys is completely voluntary. We try to call at reasonable times (not earlier than 9.00 a.m. or later than 9.30pm). We might call a telephone number up to 3 times if no one picks up, but after that the number is put aside for at least 6 months.Like all survey companies, we never try to sell you anything. Because of that, the national Do Not Call list doesn’t apply to us. (Charities are also exempt.) However, you can ask the interviewer who calls you to be put on our own Do Not Call list, and you’ll never be called by us again.We’re a Canadian owned company based in Toronto. We have Gold Seal accreditation from the MRIA (Market Research and Intelligence Association), and register all our studies with them.You can verify that the survey you have been invited to take part in is legitimate by asking the interviewer for the survey registration number, and then calling the MRIA's toll free number (1-800-554-9996).We hope that helps.
