I've been on the do not call list for years. I still keep getting calls. I file complaints but nothing seems to happen.
The do NOT call registry does NOT work. Another useless government program that does NOT work. Once we complain they should investigate the number and shut them down...
I don't think this is a scam.. I received a call today from Tom that there was a problem with my credit card also. They had all the correct numbers except the last 4 digits and the expiration date. Being cautious not to be duped by just anyone who calls me - I decided instead that I would take down HIS phone number and call HIM back. When I called back I verified that it actually was Tom on the other end of the phone. Tom told me that people verify him all the time before providing the information and that he is used to it.Its better to be safe than sorry. Nobody should just give out there information to someone who calls you. Instead, you should do the smart thing and only give out personal information like I did to people that YOU call.
Being on the do not call list and reporting violators is a good idea, when the callers are legitimate businesses. The card service scammers are not a legitimate business at all--- they are simply drug-addicted criminals out to get our credit card numbers so they can rip us off. We need to be on the alert for these lowlifes, and warn others, as they call from a variety of phoney numbers, pretending to be associated with our credit card companies in order to gain our confidence in them.
Thia,I did verify it was Tom on the other end when I called him back. I didn't really understand what the problem was, I guess I was caught up in remembering how you are supposed to call the other person back before giving out information. Do you think I was scammed? My Dad is going to get real mad (he put my name on his credit card last month). Should I tell him or just wait?
Call the number on the back of the credit card and explain the circumstances --NOW!!! It's probably too late to do anything, because once the drug addicted card service scammers get a numbers they put charges to it almost immediately, before people wise up to them. Good luck!
I didn't answer and I let the machine get it. They didn't leave a message. Unknown what they wanted.
The card service scammers are back to using this well worn phoney number once again after a few weeks of using other phoney numbers. Page # 1 of this number's posts pretty much explains about these lowlifes, without having to go through all 21 pages. But to sum it all up on this page: don't be fooled into giving these scum your credit card number and they will remain only perpetual pests--not a threat to your financial status!
