"John" called and asked if I'd voted in the last presidential election. Why do you want to know, I asked. Who are you, I asked. He said they were a nonpartisan political group and repeated his question. I said Sure I voted. Then he went on to ask if his organization could call about one or two or three times a month with updated political questions. I said I don't know who you are so I wouldn't want you calling. He kept hammering about my answering yes and that this was a recorded call and he needed my recorded voice saying yes; and he said since I answered the question today, the Do Not Call list doesn't stop future calls anyhow. I said where do I find you on the internet, he said www.votethewill.org. Then he badgered me more about saying yes he could call again.Blah blah blah. I said N-O, do not ever call again. And that was that. I hung up.

The man I spoke to asked his question and then asked if they could call monthly with short automated surveys (1 or 2 questions). When I agreed, he very politely explained that they needed my electronic consent to call this number so it would not be a violation of the DNC list and to please press 1 to consent. I believe he did everything correctly.

Called here today and didn't answer! Very annoying!

The only way to eliminate unwanted calls is to fight back. Unwanted callers care only about time and money, so unless you waste their time or cost them money they don’t care.One way to fight survey calls is to give random answers that have nothing to do with who you are or what you think.When many people do this, the survey results become worthless to whomever is sponsoring the survey. Another way is to ask many questions and try to engage in idle conversation. This ties up one phone line, and becomes effective when enough people do it so as to tie up many of the caller’s phone lines.Hanging up saves you time in the short run, but helps the caller by getting you out of the way quickly. It does not encourage the caller to avoid robo calling your number again.Call blocking is similar to hanging up, with the advantage that it prevents your being disturbed by the same number. It does not help with an entity that changes numbers, such as a charity that, as part of its annual robo calling solicitation, calls you five times from five different numbers.Complaining on this website is useful if you provide information about the caller, and forward a complaint to someone in government (Congress member for surveys and charity calls; DNC and Attorney General of your state for sales calls).Regarding this call, "John" from Informed Electorate PAC called (at 8”14 AM EDT!!!) and asked if I'd voted in the last presidential election, yes or no. Either John was a computer, or a human behind the scenes was providing computer programmed responses. During the call I asked questions to which I received canned responses that a live human would not have made. He did respond that he was calling from Murray, Utah (which is a suburb of Salt Lake City ). I played around for five minutes at which point John said we might have a bad connection. He went into a programmed presentation and “connected” me to a live person. However, I was informed that no one could help me because I.E. PAC’s normal hours were 9:30 AM through 6 PM Mountain time, and I was disconnected.
