I did not make a donation to Obama and am still getting these calls. I don't see how that these calls are that source.
(Sorry for the length! Just wanted you to have all the information I guess.)YES to blocking. There are many phone blockers on the market that are inexpensive and very effective. I have Phone Tray Pro, and I don't know what I'd do without it. It's easy to set up (even *I* could do it!) and works like a charm. It virtually takes care of all telemarketing phone calls for me. (I started out with a free version of Phone Tray, which I think is still available. I think it was called Phone Tray Free but am not sure.) Each time I get a new call, the number shows up on an ongoing Phone Tray log. I have learned to recognize numbers/names that are nuisance calls, and I just right click the number if it’s new, after which a menu pops up. One option is “block call.” I click on that and voila! That caller will be blocked forever. After that, each time they call, the phone will ring once and then the caller will hear a recorded message which is one of your choosing. There are about 10 to choose from. I favor the one that is just a fast busy signal that means the phone/line is out of order or non-functional. Other options are 1) the three standard tones(in real messages) that precedes a recorded message, and then the message itself, like this one, for example: "The number you have reached is no longer in service. Please make sure you have the right number, and that you have dialed it correctly.” And there’s even an option of: "This number does not accept telemarketing calls (or private callers, or blocked numbers)." If I’m not sure about the source of a new number, I come here to see if there are any comments on that number. If so, I block it. Since 2012, Phone Tray has blocked 2000+ calls (I have separate 2 lines/telephone numbers), and most call on one line or the other! In other word, both lines (numbers) are not automatically on the same list of callers.) Many are repeat calls. Some are the same area code and exchange, but with a variation of the last 4 numbers. But Phone Tray also allows you to block entire area codes, like 360 and 253, and 971…the source of many of these calls. Or you can block a call by name…"800 Service," or "Telefund", or “Private,” or “Donor Services,” “Anonymous” and such. And for those who are worried that you might trap legitimate calls, that has yet to happen to me, based on people I run into, or people who call me on my cell phone and say they tried to call, but got a busy signal. Legitimate callers—family, friends, and legit businesses leave messages.I know I must sound like I'm with the company, but I’m not! It's just that this program has made my life so much easier. Unfortunately, since most of these calls are robocalls, a real person doesn't come on the line until you answer, which I never did for an unknown caller. I think that answering gives the callers valuable information--that your number is a live one--and then you'll start getting calls to others who they'll sell your number to, or other subsidiaries of the group calling you. As such, I don’t think the number of calls has diminished that much, but maybe not increased. But when the phone rings only once and stops, I know that I just saved myself time and effort and aggravation by having it zapped automatically. It works, people! Phone Tray Pro (or Free). Believe me, you’ll get your money’s worth and your life back!
Several missed calls on my cell from this number. Never a message. May7be they'll just go away... maybe...
calls keep trying to come in, but I've blocked, so it hangs up on them right away. Thisi sithe second number to do this. Frustrating...
Repeated calls to my home phone number at all times of day & night. I never pick up. When I called the number I got a msg saying they were "Professional fundraisers for political & non-profit orgs" and to leave my phone number it it would be reomved from their list. I did. We'll see what happens.
Went to their web page to see organizations they raise funds for and see 3 or 4 are organizations we have contributed to. It's enough to make you want to stop donating!
The 1st day I got my new phone this # started called multiple times a day. Also left a couple VM's that were garbled nonsense. They won't stop calling and I'm sick of it!
I saw on this thread that Telefund is a contractor that works for various organizations, including Planned Parenthood. Since I gave money to PP a few months ago, I called them and told them about these crazy calls, and they apologized and took me off the Telefund list. That's maybe the only way to get removed, since Telefund doesn't answer when you return their calls.
