The owners name is Dave Avery, and has been doing this in Winterset for several years. They called me the other day and I told them that I wasn't interested and they were rudely persistent. I listened politely and told them ten times I wasn't going to be a buyer. It's my guess that the positive comments on this blog are current employees or Dave Avery himself.
The company must have bailed on that number or was spoofing it because it's now an extension on a phone line for a legit plumbing company.I saw this pop up on my phone and googled it because I didn't recognize the number. I found this page of complaints. Then I got a beep for voicemail and when I listened to it it was Holt Plumbing & Heating calling me back, as I had requested. They're my hired service.So, I'm wondering if Creative Advantage weren't spoofing some poor legit company's number? It happens a lot (sometimes it's even a private person's number).Weird thing is - I've gotten calls from Creative Advantage on my cell and they lied their butts off about how they got my number (I have no landline and am not in the book plus submitted to DNC for safety). Creative Advantage is just robo-dialing any number. They're full of crap, too, free giveaways are NOT exempt from the DNC.
I used to work there as well, but have a different view of they people than Sara. Maybe that's because I didn't quit after a day. They product they sell is referred to as a Keep it Local Card. It's this great card with special discount offers from a variety of companies around your town. It's designed to keep people shopping local in your town and save money doing doing it. Next time they call, and they will call, you should listen to the promotion and make sure to ask many questions. Maybe it will turn out to be very useful to you and your family.
While the repeated calls are annoying, I've bought these cards every year. They will hand deliver the card in your area within minutes to hours of accepting their offer, they will even accept post dated checks. Used to be you buy one card, they'd give you two. Last year, it was 3 for 1. How good the deals are of course depend on what your local merchants are willing to do to entice you to their place with a coupon. But I can use the pizza coupons at one of our local pizza joints in Bemidji, MN---which happens to be our favorite homemade pizza-Dave's, and if I use no other coupons, I come out well ahead of the dollars I spent on the coupon book.
After reading this and their practices I will no longer allow my businessto be on their card. They make it seem like they are local, but they are in Iowa. They will not make another cent off my business by charging others for the generous offers I gave. I did not realize (nor do many of the participants) that they are selling the card by cold calling and bothering people who dont want to be bothered. LOSERS!!!
I personally used to work for this company in Winterset and I know first hand what it's like to be the telemarketer. I would like to address the fact that they are simply doing their job that puts food on the table each week. Many workers here are very sweet and are simply doing their job to the best of their ability. It is a job policy that they can not take no for an answer and although somtimes it would be easiest and most convenient for both partys involved, they must continue to sell their product. The Keep it Local Card I used to sell, with all honesty, is a great way to save money when used, but I understand not everyone wants to hear from Creative Advantage. Calling people all day who often don't want to be called is very frustrating and redundant for both the caller and the reciever so please, if you are called and are not interested, simply and calmly state such and hang up. They will cross your name off and continue with their day. If you don't answer they will likely call again soon so once again, please answer, turn them down, and hang up. I am the Administrative Manager at the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce in Virginia, MN. I have received several calls from people in the Virginia Minnesota area. They ask if I know anything about the keep it local cards or if the chamber has anything to do with the keep it local cards. The Laurentian Chamber of Commerce DOES NOT support or have anything to do with the cards or Creative Advantages. The callers say they were called by Creative Advantages aka www.keepitlocalcards.com. The sales people were very rude and would not take no for an answer. The people that did buy the card are still waiting for it to be delivered. I give the people the phone number to Creative Advantages 515-462-5290 or 512-462-5297. They try to call but get a busy signal or no answer. I tried to call 515-462-5290 and no answer. The best thing to do is call the Minnesota Better Business Bureau 1-800-646-6222.Also the Iowa Better Business Bureau at 800-222-1600 and report the rascals.
These people are out of control. They have called 4 times in less than 24 hours. First my mom answered and told them we were not going to buy anything, and to not call us again. About 3 hours later the same exact guy calls back. My dad explains to him we already declined purchasing anything, to not call us again, and my dad then hung up. Less than 5 minutes later the guy calls us back. Now this morning I got the 4th call. I told her that they were harassing us and I was filing a complaint so who knows if they will quit calling or not.
To whom it may concern.It will do you absolutely no good to report Creative Advantage to the authorities. Nothing done by this company is illegal. If you have never purchased the product known as the Keep it Local Card (otherwise known as the Courtesy or Big Deal Card) then the call lis simply to enter you into a $50 gas card drawing. It is free gas. If you say no we will let you go and you can be done with us until next year. If you enter the drawing we proceed to explain the Card to you. At this point it is our JOB to sell you the card. Of course we will not take no for an answer. We believe in the savings on the card and we are being paid to make sales. If you say no and stay on the phone, we WILL NOT stop talking. If anyone is rude to you there is a great chance they will not be with the company much longer as the rules in the office are exceptionally tight. The card saves you money. If you feel like you don't need to save money feel free to hang up. Otherwise, just HANG UP!
