They Call couple of time, They are looking with the last name matching with me. i answered the call and say no none living with this name.
this is a debt collection agency from London Ontario, they never leave a message or even a number to call back, no info at all
What a bunch of garbage. Check your credit rating people as I have. No outstanding debts; stellar credit rating. Yet these people continue to call. I have even called the company they say they are representing and have been told no you don't owe a cent - don't give them information at all (this from the company they are supposedly trying to collect money from me on behalf of).Check the law in your area. Normally if you don't contact them; pay them (for fake claims) etc. they cannot keep harassing you. Sue them on a civil suit if they do.
"In Ontario there is (not their is). Hopefully if people owe money they have paid it. Some of the people you are contacting do not owe money; are no longer alive (I have read the comments); no longer live there; yet the people keep calling. If your credit rating is clear, the bank, depending on your assets and earnings will give you a mortgage. While I appreciate these people may be trying to do their job, they also need to know when they are being "had" by the company or they need to use their brains and actually listen to people and what they are telling them. Stuck in a one track groove even when they have the wrong information.Would rather have any other job than the one they have.
They called at 7am this morning. After the automated system a lady answered. I said, “do you realize what time it is?” She said, “Of course I realize what time it is! And I will continue to call you at 7am every day.” Then she hung up the phone. She was so rude and aggressive…there must be a law against this type of thing.
There is a law in Canada..If you tell them to quit calling by law they HAVE to..It is considered harrassment if they continue to call after you request they don't..If they continue to call you can contact the Ministry of Cumsumers (Canada)***********************************The Collection Agencies Act prohibits collection agencies from doing certain things. The Ontario Ministry of Government Services consulted the collection industry to develop a standard to be followed by all collectors. Having a standard also allows the public to have a better understanding of what collection agencies can and can't do. The regulations forbid collection agencies from: contacting you until six days have passed from sending you written notice of the following: • the name of the creditor • the balance owing • the name of the agency and its authority to demand payment continuing to contact you if you did not receive the notice unless a second copy of the written notice is sent to an address provided by you, and then contact may only be made six days after sending notice; contacting you if you send a registered letter to the agency saying that you dispute the debt and suggest the matter be taken to court; contacting you if you or your lawyer notify the agency by registered mail to communicate only with your lawyer, and you provide the lawyer's name, address and telephone number; contacting you on Sunday, except between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., and on a holiday; contacting you other than by ordinary mail more than three times in a seven-day period without your consent, once the agency has actually spoken with you; using threatening, profane, intimidating or coercive language, or using undue, excessive or unreasonable pressure; continuing to contact you if you have told them that you are not the person they are looking for unless they take reasonable precautions to ensure you are that person; giving false or misleading information to any person; recommending to a creditor that a legal action be commenced against you without first sending you notice; contacting your employer except on one occasion to obtain your employment information, unless your employer has guaranteed the debt, the call is in respect of a court order or wage assignment or if you have provided written authorization to contact your employer; contacting your spouse, a member of your family or household, or a relative, neighbour or acquaintance except to obtain your address and telephone number unless the person contacted has guaranteed the debt or you have given permission for the person to be contacted.************************************Ontario - The Ontario Limitation Act 2002, came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets two years as the term (Section 4). This limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards repayment of his debt. If the default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will continue to have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the 2-year rule applies. ****************************************************************
Here is a great way to get even with all the annoying calls..... Send them a text from your phone. It will go through text to landline. It is a free service that will read your text by using computer generated voice. And it is veerrrrryyyy ssllloooow, thereby tying up their phone lines. Now who's having the laugh ???? Better yet, TEXT OFTEN !!
Collection Agencies What to do when the vultures are after you.Your rights if any. This is not legal advice. For legal advice consult the excellent lawyers on CanLaw. Most offer a free half hour consultation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------It is a criminal offence for a collection agency to harass or intimidate you, to send you threatening mail or to threaten you over the telephone or in person. It may be a criminal offence if a collection agency is calling you many times a day at home or at work or is using scare tactics to get you to pay them.If a collection agency is harrassing you: Tell them to stop contacting you as it is criminal harassment. If they make one more call contact the police and your phone company Report them to your provincial Corporate and Consumers Affairs office. This will place their licence at risk. If you get a letter purporting to be from a Collection Agency's law firm or lawyer, complain to their law society about harassment by that lawyer. You do not have to speak to anyone from a collection agency or deal with them if you choose not to. When they phone do not speak to them. Get the person's name, phone number and company name then hang up without saying another word. When they call back (and they will call and call) log the calls, but just continue to hang up without speaking to them. Do not tell them where or if you work. Do not tell them where your bank is. Do not discuss your finances with them. If you do make any payments to them, get a postal money order so they do not learn where your bank account is. Do not tell them anything at all. They have no right to extract any information from you whatsoever. Your chat will only give them more information they can use to harass you further. They are looking for information they can use to sue you and when, and if, they get a judgment, they will use that information to seize your bank accounts or garnishee your pay. If you have a debt in collection, the damage to your credit rating is already done. You may as well let them sue you. It will take many, many months, possibly years, for them to sue you and they may or may not proceed. Even it they do sue you, there is no guarantee they will get a judgement. They cannot touch your assets or garnishee your pay without first suing you and winning a judgement against you. That could take years. Collection Agenices do not like to sue. When they sue, they need their client's permission and usually it is not worth their while. They will huff and puff and bluster and do anything to trick you into paying today. Do not be conned. Do not ever trust or believe anything the human vultures in collection agencies tell you. They make their living by preying on people having problems. The only thing they are interested in is in tricking or frightening you into sending them some money so they can get their commission. Collection agents are the scum of the earth.
I do not agree with u, and u are a collection agent, it's u'r job to use whatever tactic to make soemone pay there bills. Thats why we have laws to protect people from old debt, perhaps there situations in life have changed and no longer want to be burdened by a debt that occurred a long time ago under different circumstances. Having debt or old debt doesn't make that person a bad person, but someone tryinh to take advantage on an old debt is slimey and morrally wrong. So if there is a law protecting people from legal action than why do u even bother trying to collect, thats harrarsement of sorts, and if what u are saying is true that u are allowed to make calls legally than theres no harm in hanging up on u now is there, I conveniently have them call one of my cell numbers to no avail, I rather enjoy hanging up on them, they think they are sneaky by calling me from diferent numbers and at diferent times...............plain and simple BUZZ OFF.........and do u really think anyone would actually pay off an old debt even if there lives drastically change that they can actually pay it...........NOT!
