There are a number of ways to accomplish this. There are, unfortunately, many ways to generate fake caller id information. As a joke only, my buddy got one so when he called it would say all kinds of weird stuff (most of it funny). Point is they can fake a number and even the name.

They called today and I did not answer since I didn't recognize the number. I've had similar experiences from different numbers

Uh, folks? Your caller id isn't telling you everything you need to know: This call is coming from Chile, the country, not from Florida. It's country code +56, not area code 561.They're calling from Chile precisely because they know that Do Not Call can't be enforced there. I've received calls from this number trying to 'lower my interest rate', sell extended warranty coverage, and resolve outstanding debt, sometimes within a few minutes of each other, even though all of my numbers are DNC.

The following levels the playing field a bit:As stated earlier, the company behind these calls is IXE Accelerated Financial Services, and they have a toll-free number: 1-888-226-5185.Call this number from a public (i.e., pay) phone booth to voice your concerns multiple times. They have to pay significantly (over $0.50 per call) each time they pick up because they have to reimburse the pay phone company on top of their regular phone bills!This gets their attention. Ask them to remove your number. It's gratifying to know that this doesn't cost you a penny but that they have to pay more than $0.50 to hear your concerns. You can make them pay $$ as much as you want if they continue to harass you.

Called my cell at 6:04 pm...voicemail like the others 'warranty about to expire, last chance, press 1 to talk to operator or 2 to stop receiving updates" - obviusly bullsh*@. I too am on the Do Not Call list...and only give my cell number to friends and family. I filed a Complaint...but doubt it will go very far. Wish there were a way to direct the investigators to this website to show the level of harrassment they put us through.....it's beyond ridiculous...and would seem to me to be illegal.Thanks for a place to vent!!

@mikeI agree that IXE are the perpetrators, my question is more along the lines of whether or not there is evidence that I could present in small claims court. Bearing in mind that recording calls in CA requires two party consent and it's unlikely they will admit their wrongdoing after agreeing to be recorded. Any suggestions?

Have been getting calls from this number. When I try to return call number is out of service.

call sounded like a recording. Hung up immediately.

I'm on the Do Not Call Registry and it took my complaint when I filed one. They left no message and hung up when my voicemail kicked in.

Funny because the caller id says it originates from Boca Ratan, where you supposedly are.
