Just received approximately the 20th phone call from this number (1-604-251-1333) in the past month. I have asked them many times to stop calling. This time the person I asked to stop calling became very rude and began sexually harassing me over the phone and being very obscene and inappropriate. I am very upset that I was talked to that way and even more upset that there seems to be nothing I can do about this. I'm just thankful it wasn't one of my children who had answered the phone. I don't know what to do next time they call. I don't have call display on every phone unfortunately or else I would just not answer.
I responded to the call and waited while the "auto robot" transferred me to a live person once they knew they had a sucker on the line. A guy gets on and tells me that he can reduce my credit card interest rate to somewhere between 0% and 5%. I asked him how he got my number as I am unlisted and also registered on a "DO NOT CALL" list. He didn't respond except to ask if I wish to be removed from their list. To make a long story short, I argued with this guy about who they were as he was pretending he could help me as he was authorized by my bank or any bank I had credit cards with to reduce my interest rate. When he started asking me details of my account and I refused to give him numbers etc. he became quite rude and then hung up on me :). I also tried calling the number back only to find that there is no such number. THIS IS A SCAM!!!
automated message says that "there urgency with your credit card" (doesn't even say which one and you should enter the number for verification.Scam of course to steal you cc numbers and identity
JUST GOT THE CALL 1 P.M. SASKATCHEWAN TIME. WHY DO WE HAVE A NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY? A WASTE OF MONEY BECAUSE THESE HACKERS ARE WAY AHEAD OF THE GOVERNMENT..I JUST LIFT THE RECEIVER AND PUT IT BACK DOWN.
This place calls me 3 times a week. I usually threaten them and they hang up. I would doubt it is even in Canada, probably Pakistan or India.
This number called my house tonight. They talked with my wife for 45 minutes while I was driving home from work. In that time they managed to convince her that she could get a 6.9% loan if she signed up for their plan. They phished information from her by saying they had the first four digit of her credit card number but needed her to confirm the other digits. Same goes for the expiry dates. Fortunately she did not give them our address or names. She ended up fighting with the person at the end over a $395 charge to get the credit lowered, at which point my 2 year old son pressed an extension line and hung up the phone by complete accident. As soon as she told me I had her call the two credit card companies and cancel the card immediately and ask for new card numbers to be issued. The scammers work fast and can drain an account in minutes. Fortunately for us the cards were pretty well maxed out so they did not get away with anything. Had more time gone by who knows. Key for everyone is to never answer a call where a person is not on the line from the beginning of the call. A real business will never ask you to press a button in order to talk with the. Nor will they ever ask you to hold before the call starts. Just hang up. Fortunately I caught this in time and am fully knowledgeable about phishing schemes due to my line of work. Unfortunately there are many, like my wife, who can be deceived without even knowing what happened.
I doubt that anyone finding this "800 notes" thread actually believes that the calls originate in Ontario. The previous post, in all likelihood, refers to the fact that (604) 251-1333 is calling Eastern Ontario numbers, looking to pull a scam. I'm in Toronto and I've had a few calls from the 604-251-1333 number. I appreciate this thread and others like it (along with the great and helpful responses).
I just received a repeat call from this unprofessional group and have reported it to my local RCMP, I hope that everyone knows Never to give out their credit card number. On a previous call they asked which card and number they wanted me to ask about, and I asked which number were they phoning about, of course they hung up.
