Hi! I'm a student caller with the Development office, and if you're an alumnus or parent, then the call you're getting is from our annual fundraising campaign with this office. Most likely anyway. The number isn't an incoming line, just outgoing for the call center in the Baker Building and whatever other offices use it. But please don't be alarmed (although it's justified. "medical center" -- sheesh!). We're just calling to update info and see if you'd like to support.Note: the quickest way to get us to stop calling is not to not answer. We just have to call back the next day. We are allowed to take you off the list for the year if a caller actually speaks to you and finds out whether or not you want to give. Because we've completed communication with you, then we can stop calling. But if we never get a yes or no, we have to call back. Sorry! Please just answer for us and talk for a few minutes and we'll be out of your hair :)Thanks!
I have zero affiliation with Vanderbilt and received a call today, I didn't answer in time.
ALL OUTGOING CALLS FROM VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY AND VANDERBILT HOSPITAL DEFAULT TO THE TRUNK LINE OF 615-343-0473. IF YOU GET A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER AND THE PERSON DOES NOT LEAVE YOU A MESSAGE WITH A SPECIFIC NUMBER, THEN YOU CANNOT KNOW WHO OR WHICH DEPARTMENT CALLED. YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO CALL YOU AGAIN SO YOU CAN SPEAK TO THEM PERSONALLY. IT COULD BE IN REGARDS TO ANYTHING THAT RELATES TO VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY.
Thank you Senior! I'll answer tomorrow. I have a Nashville number but live in San Antonio. I have never been to VU or the hospital there so maybe your system is just scrolling numbers. Anyway, thanks for the info.
From reading the messages here, I am pretty sure that in my case, it was a call from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. My son just had some (relatively minor) surgery there a few days ago, and no doubt they were calling to check on him. I'm actually beginning to think that I should just start answering my dang phone whether I recognize the number calling or not and then decide how to handle the call, depending. (Obviously ignore when the call is coming from a known "bad" number.) That's how it used to be done, back in the day. I think people were probably a lot less stressed out too.
This is an outgoing trunk line from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. They were calling with an appointment reminder.
I just received a call and didn't answer in time. When I called back I got a recording that it was not a valid Vanderbilt number and if I was not expecting a call from Vanderbilt to disregard the number.
Some female called my cell from this number and left a msg stating that she was in a lunch meeting and was sorry she missed my call. When I called the number back, I got a VM that it was Vanderbilt. I'm guessing that an employee there was using a company line for a personal call, and misdialed because they have yet to call back.
I keeep getting phone calls from this number like 20 times withing an hour.!!! it's very annoying!!! When i answer nobody talks, i just hear the beeing please stop!
