Called new (Sprint) mobile phone 3 x in a row, always a hang up. Not the way a legitimate company does business.

The number belongs to Asurion, who provides insurance and tech support for companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and several retail companies like Guitar Center. However, it seems some scammers are spoofing this number to pretend they are Asurion calling you when they are really not with the company. A lot of scammers can call random numbers and make it appear they are calling from a legit business's phone when a lot of times they're not even calling from the US. If you haven't filed an insurance claim or called in for Tech Support on a cell phone or retail merchandise with them in the last 24 or so hours, I would hang up without giving them any information.

On 020117@approx.10:01amPST, I dialed *611 for Verizon Customer Service re: my bill--I rec'd text msgs.that contradicted themselves. 1) said I was out of data for the month and in safety mode, and 2) said I had 6% remaining AFTER I went online to add a data boost to my acct. I reached someone in Tech.Support who advised me he couldn't help me with my billing questions and transferred me over to their Customer Service Dept. I reached someone named Abdul. He stated that the number coming up on his end was 615-837-3000(?)=that is not my number. (When I looked the#up on the Internet, it came up as Asurion Insurance (Verizon's Insurance co.in Nashville, TN; on this website, most say it's an AT&T Consumer Service#, which would be like business espionage, if that were true.); Abdul said he couldn't verify my info.&requested my security code.I was originally advised not to release this info.to anyone (Abdul said he could see the code on his end, but just wanted to verify the#; instead, he sent me a temp.security code via text),but they could ask security questions--there was obviously a disconnect between Verizon & my phoneline. I provided him with the temp.security number & he said he would have to call me back in 10 mins.to clear up info/billing on his end and try to determine why Assurion's number comes up as my number. This is the first time I had ever heard of my number coming up wrong on someone else's line.

Caller showed on my phone as "Chaz to Johnson" I didn't answer. One minute later my husband got a call from the same number on his phone. We don't have Verizon or ATT PHONES we use a different carrier and have not called them for any issues

The call is for AT&T DirecTv's Premier Protection Center. If you sent in an electronic device (i.e. laptop, cell phone, tv etc.) to have it fixed as part of AT&T DirecTv's Premier Protection Plan than you want to answer the call as they're calling to give you status as to your claim!

It is Verizon tech support. They were following up on an issue I was having. They left a message on my voice mail.
